MOAS Pets

MOAS Pets Welcome to the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, better known as MOAS. We have been in existence since 2002. But we can't do all of this without you!
(623)

Our mission is to save as many pets as possible while reducing the unwanted pet population through a low-cost spay and neuter clinic operated out of the shelter. We take our role seriously, and we are excited about the many community initiatives that we are able to offer to assist in reducing pet overpopulation and to provide better care for family pets. These initiatives include our monthly low-c

ost vaccine clinics, our low-cost spay/neuter program, our assistance with trapping and altering feral cats, our community pet food bank, and more! MOAS is solely responsible for running the shelter and relies on a volunteer Board of Directors to set shelter policy and to raise necessary funds. We also partner with regional rescue groups and other local shelters to collaborate on ways that we can all work together to improve the outcomes for people and their pets. We need your help to continue to offer these services and to help us expand our programs in the future. Some of the ways that you can help are by donating money or supplies, volunteering, supporting our special events throughout the year like our annual Bark & Wine fundraiser, and advocating for our shelter pets in the community. With your help, we are making a difference in the lives of the precious animals entrusted to our care. So come out to the shelter and adopt a great pet. Or if your home is full but your heart still has some room, come out and foster or volunteer. You might also consider donating to help with the medical needs of our most vulnerable animals. Our Guardian Angel Fund exists to help pay for medical treatment for injured or ill animals that are brought to us. Please also keep us in mind as you plan your annual giving. Setting up a one-time or monthly donation to either our general fund or our Guardian Angel Fund is quick and easy. Any assistance is always appreciated by the staff and especially the animals. Thank you for your support of our shelter, and we hope that you'll visit us soon! Hours of Operations (Subject to change)

They don't know what it's like to have a home.
Not really.
Nimbus and Twilight are only one year old, but they've already spent 272 days in our shelter.
Think about that for a second.
More than half of their lives have been spent waiting.
Waiting for someone to notice them. Waiting for someone to open their kennel door and say, "You're coming home."
Instead, they've watched other cats arrive, find families, and leave while they stayed behind.
Nimbus is the quiet boy with the tiny white star on his chest. He may be shy at first, but once he trusts you, he's incredibly gentle and affectionate. Twilight is just as sweet, a calm, observant girl who blossoms into a loyal companion when she feels safe.
Both have spent time in foster homes and have done well with other animals. They're litter box trained, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and more than ready for a family of their own.
We often shine a light on our long-term dogs, but today we're asking you not to overlook our long-term cats.
272 days is too long.
They've spent more of their lives waiting than living.
Let's change that.

🖤🤍 Seeing double? We promise you're not. 🖤🤍

Abby and Trudy may look like they could be sisters, but they're just two incredible girls hoping the right person falls in love with them.
Abby is 6 years old with a heart as sweet as they come. She loves other dogs, belly rubs, and greeting everyone she meets with a wagging tail.
Trudy is 1 year old and the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle companion. She's happiest spending time with her people, whether it's on a walk or curled up by your side.
One is 6. One is 1. They're nearly the same size, both absolutely beautiful, and both dreaming of the very same thing—a forever family.
Could one of these girls be your perfect match? Come meet Abby and Trudy.

We don't know how to convince people to notice a dog like Spice.
He's not the loudest.
He's not the youngest.
He's not the dog throwing himself at the kennel door begging for attention.
He's just... good.
Good with other dogs. Good on walks. He even seems to think cats deserve their space. Give him a soft bed, a little sunshine, and someone to love, and he's completely content.
He's the kind of dog that feels like a warm patch of sunshine on a cold winter day. Quiet, comforting, and exactly where you want to be.
Maybe that's why he's still here.
The dogs who cause a little chaos get remembered. The puppies get shared. The tiny dogs get scooped up.
And dogs like Spice quietly become one of our longest residents.
Fifty-three days.
Fifty-three mornings waking up in a kennel.
Fifty-three days of watching other dogs leave.
We keep waiting for someone to walk in and say, "That's my dog."
They haven't yet.
If you've ever wanted an easy dog... the kind who fits into your life instead of turning it upside down... he's been waiting for you this whole time.
Please don't let Spice spend another day wondering when his turn will come.
Come meet him. Foster him. Adopt him. Share him.
Let's make day 54 the day someone finally notices the dog who's never asked for much.

Some dogs are cool. Some dogs are dignified.
Sq**rt is... neither.
He's the kind of dog who runs over to say hello with his whole body wagging, then forgets why he came and just stands there smiling at you. He's delightfully awkward, endlessly happy, and convinced every person he meets is his new best friend.
Professional tail wagger. Full-time smile expert. Occasional snack thief (allegedly).
Sq**rt lives for zoomies, belly rubs, and making people laugh. His heart is much bigger than his attention span, and somehow that's exactly what makes him so lovable. Whether he's flopping over for pets or showing off that giant grin, he has a way of making every day a little brighter.
If your home could use a little more laughter, a lot more love, and a dog whose only goal in life is to make you smile, Sq**rt is ready to meet you.

KEVIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!! ❤️
After 95 days at MOAS, Kevin finally found his forever family!
Ninety-five days of waiting. Ninety-five days of watching other dogs leave. Ninety-five days of hoping the right family would walk through our doors.
And yesterday... they did.
The goofy boy who lived for fetch, loved every person he met, and never stopped making us laugh walked out the front doors with his new family. Judging by these smiles, we'd say everyone knew it was meant to be.
To every single person who shared his posts, left encouraging comments, tagged friends, and cheered him on... THANK YOU. You helped keep Kevin's story in front of the people who needed to see it.
This is exactly why we never stop telling their stories.
Happy forever, Kevin. Go wear out the grass chasing tennis balls, soak up every cuddle, and enjoy the life you've been waiting 95 days to start.
We already miss you... but there is no goodbye sweeter than one that ends with "See you never... because you're finally HOME."

☕ Rumor has it... the shelter pets have opinions.
They've seen the adoptions. They've seen the meet and greets. They've seen the zoomies, the treats, the awkward first dates, and the staff's questionable dance moves.
Starting this week, someone is spilling the tea.
New diary entries are coming... and no one is safe. 👀🐾
Stay tuned for Shelter Tea.

Looking for a playful kitten who turns everything into a toy? We've got them.
Want to bottle feed tiny babies and watch them grow? We need you.
Prefer an independent cat who just needs a quiet home? They're waiting.
Maybe your heart belongs to a senior who's lost the only family they've ever known.
Or the one eyed, toothless cat who somehow still believes every new person could be their person.
We have moms raising newborns, bottle babies, kittens learning that people can be kind, playful teenagers, adult cats, FIV+ cats, barn cats, and seniors hoping for one more soft place to land.
No matter what kind of cat you're looking for, there's one here hoping you'll choose them.
Whether you're ready to adopt, foster, or even just share this post, you can help change a life.
Come meet your match. We promise... there's something for everyone.

❄️ Do You Want to Adopt a Puppy? ❄️
Meet Anna, Elsa, and Olaf, our very own little Arendelle crew! These three are 18 weeks old, healthy, happy, and ready to trade the puppy room for a forever kingdom of their own.
They've already overcome more than any puppy should. They fought through parvo, found their strength again, and are now back to doing what puppies do best... playing, cuddling, and making everyone smile.
We thought their story would end with a family long before now, but they're still waiting.
Soon they'll be too big for the puppy room and will have to move into the dog runs. We'd love nothing more than for them to skip that part of the story and head straight to a loving home instead.
So don't let it go... come meet Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. One of these little snowballs might just be the missing piece your family has been looking for.
Their happily ever after is waiting... all it needs is you.

🦸 Meet Superman 🦸
Nine and a half years old and proof that it's never too late for a fresh start.
When Superman came to us, he was fragile, underweight, and heartworm positive. Today, thanks to his incredible foster family, he's healthy, has completed heartworm treatment, and is ready to find a new foster or, even better, a forever home.
He may be a senior, but don't tell him that. He still enjoys exploring the yard, hanging out with his people, and soaking up every bit of attention he can get. At our adoption event this weekend, he spent the day relaxing by the front door, happily greeting everyone who came in. That's just who he is. Calm, friendly, and content to be wherever his people are.
Superman has 80 pounds of love to give and asks for very little in return. A comfy place to nap, someone to love, and a family to call his own.
His only kryptonite? Cats.
We recommend Superman go to a cat free home.
His story has already had one happy ending. Now all he needs is the family that will make it complete. ❤️💙
