MOAS Pets

MOAS Pets Welcome to the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, better known as MOAS. We have been in existence since 2002. But we can't do all of this without you!
(624)

Our mission is to save as many pets as possible while reducing the unwanted pet population through a low-cost spay and neuter clinic operated out of the shelter. We take our role seriously, and we are excited about the many community initiatives that we are able to offer to assist in reducing pet overpopulation and to provide better care for family pets. These initiatives include our monthly low-c

ost vaccine clinics, our low-cost spay/neuter program, our assistance with trapping and altering feral cats, our community pet food bank, and more! MOAS is solely responsible for running the shelter and relies on a volunteer Board of Directors to set shelter policy and to raise necessary funds. We also partner with regional rescue groups and other local shelters to collaborate on ways that we can all work together to improve the outcomes for people and their pets. We need your help to continue to offer these services and to help us expand our programs in the future. Some of the ways that you can help are by donating money or supplies, volunteering, supporting our special events throughout the year like our annual Bark & Wine fundraiser, and advocating for our shelter pets in the community. With your help, we are making a difference in the lives of the precious animals entrusted to our care. So come out to the shelter and adopt a great pet. Or if your home is full but your heart still has some room, come out and foster or volunteer. You might also consider donating to help with the medical needs of our most vulnerable animals. Our Guardian Angel Fund exists to help pay for medical treatment for injured or ill animals that are brought to us. Please also keep us in mind as you plan your annual giving. Setting up a one-time or monthly donation to either our general fund or our Guardian Angel Fund is quick and easy. Any assistance is always appreciated by the staff and especially the animals. Thank you for your support of our shelter, and we hope that you'll visit us soon! Hours of Operations (Subject to change)

📣 Spay & Neuter Appointments Available!

Adoptable Noggin would like everyone to know that getting neutered “wasn’t that bad” … and now he gets to wear his cool neck pillow everywhere he goes.

Every day we see the consequences of pets not being altered. Unwanted litters, abandoned kittens and puppies, preventable medical emergencies, and overcrowded shelters. A single unspayed cat can lead to hundreds of kittens in just a few years, and dogs aren’t far behind.

Spaying and neutering doesn’t just help control pet overpopulation, it also helps your pet live a healthier, safer life.
Benefits include:
📌 Reduced risk of certain cancers and infections
📌 Less roaming, fighting, spraying, and marking
📌 Lower chance of escaping and getting injured
📌 Fewer hormone-driven behaviors and stress

Our clinic offers affordable spay/neuter services to help pets stay healthy and keep more animals out of shelters. It’s one of the kindest and most responsible things you can do for your pet.

Fill out the form at the link below and our clinic team will be in touch soon.

Kitten season is in FULL swing here and we could really use a few fosters for 2–4 weeks until these babies hit the magic 2 lb mark and are ready for surgery/adoption.

The good news? These kittens are all eating independently, so no bottle babies or overnight feedings needed! We’ll send you home with supplies, you just provide a safe space, some love, and temporary housing for these tiny chaos gremlins.

Here are just a few of the litters currently looking for a place to crash while they grow big and strong.

None of these kittens are currently available for adoption, and we do not separate kittens until they reach adoptable age. Kittens learn important social skills from one another, and staying together during this stage is incredibly beneficial for their development and wellbeing.

Interested in fostering? Please email [email protected] for more information!

Ready for takeoff! ✈️🐾

This morning, MOASPets had the incredible opportunity to participate in a lifesaving animal transport flight thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation. Four of our animals are officially on their freedom ride to brighter futures!

We are beyond grateful to everyone at Bissell, the Valdosta Humane Society, and the amazing flight crew who made this possible. ALSO shout out to our amazing staff who coordinated all of the details and loaded animals at midnight to make to the flight! It takes a village to give these animals the second chances they deserve. 💙🐶🐱

❌ Parvo Quarantine ❌

Due to another case of Parvovirus, the shelter will be CLOSED this weekend (May 2-3rd) for a full deep cleaning.

❓What you need to know ❓

👉 We will reopen THIS Wednesday for cat intakes and adoptions ONLY

👉 Dog intakes and adoptions will be paused until further notice for quarantine

👉 Each Parvo case that we have seen this Spring have been in animals that have either come in already sick, or broken with symptoms within 24 hours of intake (meaning that they were infected prior to intake).
This is an important reminder to verify each animal in your home is fully vaccinated for Parvovirus. One shot (boostered each year) can protect both your animals, and the animals in our community.

Thank you for your understanding 🐾

Today is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day 🐾💔

Right now, in shelters everywhere, there are dogs and cats waiting… watching people walk by, hoping this is the moment someone chooses them. Many of them once had homes. Some never have. All they want is love, safety, and someone to call their own.

Adopting a shelter pet doesn’t just give them a home—it gives them a second chance at life. A warm bed instead of a kennel. A name instead of a number. A family instead of loneliness.

If you’ve ever thought about adopting, please consider it. And if you can’t, even sharing their stories can help them find the person they’ve been waiting for.

They’re still hoping. Maybe they’re waiting for you ❤️🐾
