Post-op radiographs from a case 5 years ago of a bilateral, (done the same day), chronic, ACL rupture with meniscal damage dog that was also severely hypothyroid. Looking at the three ‘A’s’, apposition and alignment are both good, activity would have been also good had the client followed closely the post-operative instructions that she signed her name to, agreeing to provide. Even said she was an RVT.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to follow all post-operative instructions to the letter for the first two weeks until skin and soft tissue are healed, and then, also, on bone and joint repairs like what this is, strict leash confinement until the bone has had a chance to heal. Super important to provide the proper post operative follow up care to ensure a perfect outcome! Shannon N.’s “Allie”

Eight years post-operative correction with special hinged fixator. Mind you, she’s running uphill and in soft sand. No better test on joint flexibility, function, form, and weight-bearing than that.

This is Beezy, a dog we corrected from a devastating disease called deranged Rt Rear tarsal joint. Other surgeons gave her only the following two options after her injury: RR limb amputation, or arthrodesis of the joint with no guarantee of success. (This is the ‘before’ picture.
