Second Chance Wildlife Center is proud to announce that we have officially been licensed by the State Board of Veterinary Examiners as the first and only Veterinary Hospital Exclusively for Wildlife in the state of Maryland - marking a major milestone for the organization and for wildlife care across the region. The organization will also continue to operate as a permit-holding wildlife rehabilitation facility.

Becoming a licensed wildlife hospital recognizes the facility’s advanced veterinary medical capabilities, ability to appropriately house and care for a variety of species, and a highly trained wildlife medicine and rehabilitation staff (including a full-time wildlife veterinarian).

As a licensed hospital for wildlife, Second Chance Wildlife Center will:
- Provide enhanced medical and surgical care for complex cases
- Expand diagnostic capabilities, including imaging and laboratory services
- Strengthen partnerships with veterinarians, state and federal wildlife agencies, other wildlife rehabilitators, and conservation organizations
- Participate in and contribute data to wildlife research projects
- Offer training for future wildlife professionals and educational opportunities for the public
- Increase public and media access to expert guidance on wildlife-related issues

SCWC is a member of the International Wildlife Rehabilitators Council, the National Wildlife Rehabilitators Association, and the Maryland Wildlife Rehabilitators Association. SCWC is proud to hold the highest ratings in financial management and transparency awarded by two of the top charity evaluation organizations, Charity Navigator and Candid.

Putting out a special request for bath towels and hand towels (no other types of linens are needed at this time). If you have any gently used towels to donate, the animals and staff would definitely appreciate it.

We currently have 143 patients in care, so laundry is seemingly never-ending. Every towel helps us keep enclosures clean and animals comfortable.

We’ve also attached a donation drive poster if you or anyone you know would like to help us gather some of our most-used supplies.

Donations can be dropped off at our facility any day of the week between 10 AM and 4 PM: Second Chance Wildlife Center, 26400 Haines Rd, Clarksburg, MD 20871

THANK YOU!

We get calls every spring in regards to baby bunnies. This is a great way to try to keep the nest intact and still allowing the Mom to come at dawn and dusk to attend to her babies.
