Update:: the owner HAS been found!! Thank you for sharing and helping us reunite her with her family!

This dog was found and brought to DVMC- we are looking for the owner. The dog is microchipped. If this is your dog, please call us at 706-529-3862. If the owner does not claim within 10 days we will be finding her a new home. Prior to claiming, we MUST have matching microchip information and previous veterinary records brought in for evaluation and confirmation.

Recently we have been asked many times whether Dogwood Veterinary Medical Center is corporately owned or privately owned, so we wanted to provide some clarity.

DVMC is not corporately owned. We are privately and independently owned right here in our community.

Our mission has always been simple: to provide high-quality veterinary care while treating our clients and patients like family, care that only true locals can provide! Drs. Bragg, Thompson and Burato strive every day to ensure that your pets receive the highest standard of care while keeping our services fairly and reasonably priced.

DVMC is truly grateful for all of our clients and their pets!! Thank you for trusting us with your pets and for supporting a locally owned veterinary practice. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and look forward to caring for your pets for years to come.

We are excited to welcome Samir Burato, DVM to our team here at Dogwood Veterinary Medical Center!

Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Samir graduated from São Paulo State University in the Class of 2022, earning his veterinary medicine degree, before completing his Master’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Georgia in 2024.

His main interests in veterinary medicine include surgery and diagnostic imaging. We are excited for our clients and patients to benefit from the care, knowledge, and compassion he brings to our team.

Outside of work, Samir enjoys spending time with his wife, Mikayla, along with family and friends, and loves fishing and grilling.

We are thankful to have him joining our growing team and cannot wait for our community to meet him. Please help us give Samir Burato a warm welcome to DVMC!
