Indraloka Animal Sanctuary provides “heaven on earth” for farm animals that have nowhere else to turn. We inform, inspire, and empower the community, especially children, on ways in which we can better care for ourselves and the environment while helping animals in need. We advocate for a kind and compassionate diet that protects animals, the earth, and our own health.

Save the date! Join us at Indraloka on Thursday, December 10, for our Holiday Gathering, an evening of connection, gratitude, and holiday cheer.

Stop by the Art Barn between 5 and 7 PM for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and good company. Coming straight from work? Holiday casual is the dress code, so come as you are. An optional sanctuary tour begins at 3:30 PM for anyone who’d like to visit our beloved animals before the gathering.

We love kids, but this evening is designed for adults. Staff, volunteers, and friends of Indraloka are all welcome!

Rescue is a promise for life, and many of our beloveds are growing older with us. Their golden years deserve special care and attention to keep them happy, mobile, and comfortable. When we noticed our beloved turkey Patricia Marie losing weight, we adjusted her meals. We’ve helped Ra, a gorgeous elder duck, navigate vision loss from cataracts. Chickens and ducks Agatha, Dandy, Moby, and Peaches receive special treatments and medications for various age-related conditions.

Our animals are wonderful reminders that health breakthroughs can happen at any age. Gregory the chicken has reached an optimal body condition, and Reuben the cat has gained nearly a pound. In the cow pasture, Jimmy is taking it easy as his sore knee heals. And Mira, Queen of the Mini Goats, often enjoys a gentle massage to get her joints moving.

Growing older calls for extra attention, patience, and individualized care. Thanks to you, our Indraloka seniors get the care they deserve.

We shared a beautiful morning with students representing the South Scranton Intermediate School! Highlights of the day included feeding pumpkins to the cows, watching the pigs bob for apples, snuggling sheep, and bonding with alpacas. Tao, Marble, and Luna were quick to find many friends and share space with these awesome students, and all of the cows were excited to smile and connect with them. We are so grateful!!!!

If you’ve visited Indraloka, Lyndon may have taken it upon himself to join your tour. He hops his pasture fence to greet guests, shows off his beautiful colors, and plays with children at summer camp. Curious, fearless, and proud, Lyndon wants to be noticed — and loved for the amazing turkey he is.

Now, he needs our help.

An injury to the structures that support his tongue and help him swallow has made eating difficult. He has lost weight, and bloodwork shows muscle wasting. Lyndon is receiving supportive care. Pending his remaining bloodwork, the next step is a $1,400 CT scan to help his specialist determine whether surgery could help. Surgery, if recommended, would likely cost several thousand dollars more.
