Back to school means new beginnings, new things to learn, and new teachers. At Indraloka, we are surrounded by teachers of all species, and we learn so much from each of them.
Gabby, our newest goat family member, has taught us that sometimes the best part of the day is hanging out with someone you like. And caregiver Emily is great teacher of that lesson, too.
Banks, who arrived with his best friend Colton, has taken a shine to mini pig Sanjaya. They teach us that friendship doesn’t care about species. Or size. Or what anyone else thinks your friendship should look like.
Our animals have plenty of other lessons down pat, too. Eat when there’s food. Sleep when you’re tired. Ask for attention when you want it, and it’s also okay not to want it. Enjoy a sunny day. But enjoy the rain and snow and clouds too.
So as the new school year gets underway, we want to know: What have you learned from the animals? And if you’re an adult who hasn’t been in a classroom for a while, what do you hope to learn this year?
Share your answer in the comments. We’re always ready for a new lesson.
