Your cat probably won't make their own dentist appointment.
Happy Toothday! The x-ray here is from a cat we saw recently. That's a feline oral resorptive lesion (FORL) in the tooth on the left. Toothfully, it's one of the most painful things we find in a cat's mouth. We still don't know exactly why it happens, but the body starts dissolving the tooth from the inside out, and you might not catch it just by looking--it sometimes only shows up on a dental radiograph.
Here's the part we love about our practice: all of this happened in our client's driveway. We pulled the mobile clinic up to the house, ran pre-anesthetic bloodwork on our onboard analyzers, and did complete dentals on all three of their cats. Nobody was crated, nobody rode across town, and nobody sat in a waiting room full of barking dogs.
