Most puppy owners think:“Puppy biting is normal.”

And yes…some biting IS normal. 🐶

But what people miss is this:
Behaviors puppies practice every day get STRONGER.

So the puppy that’s:
👉🏼 grabbing sleeves
👉🏼 chasing ankles
👉🏼 biting hands constantly
👉🏼 demanding engagement nonstop

…usually doesn’t magically stop once teething starts.
It often escalates.

Your puppy is learning from EVERYTHING right now 👀🐶

And one of the biggest mistakes I see puppy owners make is waiting until behaviors become overwhelming before they start addressing them.

But by then…
your puppy has already practiced those behaviors over and over again 😅

Biting.
Jumping.
Chewing.
Pulling on leash.
Demand barking.

The more your puppy rehearses a behavior, the more natural it becomes 🧠

Which is why puppy training is so much more than correcting behaviors in the moment they happen.

It’s about preventing the behaviors you DON’T want…
while intentionally teaching the behaviors you DO want instead 👏🏼🐾

Because puppies don’t magically “grow out” of behaviors they practice every day.
They grow INTO them.

Not waiting until you’re overwhelmed.

🐶🦈 Puppy biting is NOT always just:
👉🏼 “your puppy is tired.”

Yes, overtired puppies bite.

But puppies also bite because of:
⚡ excitement
⚡ frustration
⚡ dysregulation
⚡ lack of impulse control
⚡ habit
⚡ wanting engagement
⚡ and not knowing what else to do yet 😅

Some puppies literally wake up ready to emotionally terrorize the household. 😈

Because waking up predicts:
👉🏼 freedom
👉🏼 attention
👉🏼 movement
👉🏼 excitement

And this is why:
❌ “just put them down for a nap”
usually is not the whole solution.

Puppy biting improves through:
✔️ structure
✔️ calmness training
✔️ routines
✔️ impulse control
✔️ teaching appropriate engagement
✔️ life skills throughout the day

Because if your puppy only learns:
👉🏼 biting gets attention

…they will keep doing it 👏🏼

The goal is not just stopping biting.

The goal is teaching your puppy so many appropriate behaviors…
👉🏼 that biting stops being the default.

And that is when puppyhood starts feeling way less chaotic. 😌

😵‍💫 Your puppy should NOT be emotionally running your entire household.

And I think a lot of puppy owners genuinely believe:
👉🏼 “Well… this is just puppyhood.”

Like:
⚡ no peace
⚡ no downtime
⚡ no relaxing
⚡ and every second of life revolves around puppy chaos 😅

Um. No.

Puppyhood should have:
✔️ structure
✔️ routines
✔️ naps
✔️ management

…but it should NOT feel like your life completely disappeared 🫥

Because if your puppy:
⚡ cannot settle
⚡ needs nonstop entertainment
⚡ follows you everywhere
⚡ emotionally unravels when life gets boring

👉🏼 calmness needs to start being taught.

Now.
Not later 🫠

Because most dogs do not magically grow into calmness.

And if you wait too long?
👉🏼 adolescence gets real hard.

You do not need to run your life like a military operation to raise a good puppy. 🤍

I think social media has convinced a lot of people that raising a puppy means:
⚡ constant training
⚡ perfect schedules
⚡ never relaxing
⚡ managing every second of the day

But that’s not actually the goal.
The goal is to teach your puppy how to LIVE with you.

Then, over time . . . things should start feeling:
✔️ easier
✔️ calmer
✔️ more natural
✔️ less chaotic

Because structure should support your life…
not completely take it over. 🩵

🐶 If your puppy wakes up biting… 🦈
walks around biting…
and acts like your bathrobe personally offended them…

👉🏼 your puppy has learned something:

BITING 👏🏼 WORKS 👏🏼

Yes, puppies naturally bite.

But a LOT of puppies quickly learn:
⚡ biting gets attention
⚡ biting gets reactions
⚡ biting gets movement
⚡ biting gets humans emotionally involved 😅

And this is why:
❌ yelling
❌ pushing
❌ reacting dramatically
❌ shoving toys in their face

usually makes things WORSE 😩

Because now biting became:
👉🏼 the main event.

What actually changes puppy biting?
✔️ rewarding calmness
✔️ rewarding walking nicely with you
✔️ rewarding settling
✔️ teaching life skills intentionally
✔️ naps
✔️ enrichment
✔️ structure
✔️ crate training

And yes…
👉🏼 you SHOULD feel like you’re rewarding your puppy constantly at first 😅

😵‍💫 If your 7 month old puppy cannot settle outside the crate…

👉🏼 this is usually NOT just energetic.

A LOT of adolescent dogs are actually missing:
❌ regulation skills
❌ relaxation skills
❌ impulse control
❌ foundation behaviors

And people accidentally make it worse by thinking:
👉🏼 “MORE EXERCISE.” 😅

So now the dog gets:
⚡ endless fetch
⚡ nonstop frisbee
⚡ constant stimulation
⚡ overaroused
⚡ overexercised

…and suddenly your dog has:
👉🏼 rizz
👉🏼 athletic ability
👉🏼 and absolutely no ability to sit still long enough to enjoy a movie 😵‍💫

Exercise alone does NOT teach dogs how to regulate.

Your dog ALSO needs:
✔️ naps
✔️ calmness
✔️ structure
✔️ life skills
✔️ training woven throughout the day

Because if your dog has:
❌ no impulse control
❌ no engagement
❌ no relaxation skills

life is gonna feel chaotic no matter how many lick mats you buy 😅

They’re OVERstimulated 😵‍💫
And this is where people accidentally create MORE chaos without realizing it.

Because once puppies hit adolescence and start acting:
⚡ wild
⚡ chaotic
⚡ unable to settle
⚡ constantly demanding engagement

People immediately think:
👉🏼 “more exercise.”

So now the dog gets:
🔺 endless fetch
🔺 nonstop stimulation
🔺 constant activity
🔺 over-arousal ALL day long

…but never actually learns:
❌ how to relax
❌ how to regulate
❌ how to calmly exist in the house

Exercise matters.
But exercise alone does not create a calm dog. 🏃🏻‍♂️🚫🧘🏻‍♀️
