Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc., is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation operating in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, throughout Texas, New Mexico, and the United States since May, 2001. GALT has assisted more than 4,000 greyhounds and other sighthounds in finding their forever homes.

Look at Dylan now. 💙🐾

Sometimes the best stories are the ones that remind us just how much love, patience, and care can change a life.

Dylan came to GALT in July as part of a heartbreaking neglect case. At less than two years old, this sweet boy weighed just 39 pounds. Today, he is up to 57 pounds, an incredible gain of 18 pounds, and he is looking and feeling so much better.

Dylan still has some hurdles ahead. He tested positive for heartworms and began his treatment journey this month. Thankfully, he tested negative for tick-borne diseases, has been neutered, and is making wonderful progress.

And what a personality this boy has. Dylan absolutely loves his toys, playing with his canine housemate, and feeding time. After everything he has been through, seeing him enjoy the simple pleasures of being a happy, playful young dog is certainly something special.

We also learned a little more about his family tree. DNA testing revealed that Dylan is 66% Greyhound, 18% Whippet, and 16% Borzoi. Even better, he is the brother of Garth and Brooks, who are with GALT Central Texas.

Dylan’s story is still being written, but what a difference these past few months have made.

Luna was a hunter at heart and a deeply loved member of the family. For nearly half her life, she shared her days with Karen and Jerimiah, a GALT New Mexico foster family in Santa Fe, who gave her a home filled with love.

Known as an epic hunter, Luna lived life with the spirit and instincts of a true hound. She leaves behind years of cherished memories and two very broken hearts.

Although their time together could never have been long enough, the love Karen and Jerimiah shared with Luna will remain with them forever.

Run free, sweet Luna. May the fields be endless, the adventures plentiful, and the hunting always good. You will be deeply missed and forever loved. ❤️

Meet the GALT Team: Chris Hebert, DFW Director, Board of Directors 💙🐾

For Chris Hebert, a lifelong love of greyhounds began in 2000 with a promise to a friend in Lafayette, Louisiana.

After meeting his friend's two greyhounds, Chris was hooked. He promised that when he bought his first home, he would adopt one of his own. Five years later, Chris and his wife, Rachel, purchased their first home in South Florida. Within two months, they welcomed Boss, their first greyhound, followed soon after by Daisy.

That promise turned into more than two decades of greyhound adoption, fostering, and volunteering.

Chris and Rachel began volunteering with greyhound adoption groups in Florida, continued their involvement after moving back to Louisiana, and eventually found their GALT family when they relocated to North Texas in 2020.

Since joining GALT in 2021, Chris has taken on several roles, including serving on the Board of Directors as DFW Director. He manages GALT's social media channels, online advertising, and Google Ad Grants relationships. Rachel serves as an adoption coordinator, and together they help with fostering, transporting hounds, adoption events, and just about anything else that needs an extra set of hands.

Chris holds a doctorate with a concentration in Global Leadership and Organizational Change. He is also a professor in Texas Tech University's College of Media & Communication, where he teaches organizational, strategic, and intercultural communication. Outside of his work with GALT and Texas Tech, Chris and Rachel enjoy traveling, sporting events, live music, and GALT gatherings that involve good food and drinks.

For Chris, one of the most rewarding parts of GALT is the people who make it all possible.

"Everyone brings a unique perspective and valuable experience to the work and the mission. GALT has built a real family around this special breed, and Rachel and I are fortunate to have found our home within it."

Twenty-six years after meeting those first two greyhounds in Louisiana, Chris remains very grateful for the opportunity to work so closely with these special dogs and with so many wonderful people who have become part of this part of his life along the way.

Alyssa has a new name and a forever home! 💙

Now known as Talisker, or Tally for short, this sweet girl has officially joined her forever family. We could not be happier for her as she begins this wonderful new chapter surrounded by love.

Meet Dave! 🐾 Big ears. Big personality. Even bigger heart.

If those wonderfully expressive ears do not win you over, Dave’s hilarious habit of growling at his own reflection just might. Apparently, the handsome stranger in the mirror is highly suspicious!

Dave is a happy, affectionate greyhound with plenty of personality and a knack for making everyday life entertaining.

❤️ Just a few things to love about Dave:

🐾 Professional Shadow: Dave loves relaxing on his dog bed near his favorite humans. But the moment you get up, he is right behind you. There might be snacks involved, and he cannot risk missing out.

🐾 Adventure Enthusiast: Dave loves brisk walks, car rides, and exploring the world around him. Squirrels and bunnies are particularly exciting, and he is not shy about announcing their presence.

🐾 Excellent Roommate: Dave has wonderful house manners, sleeps soundly beside your bed, and keeps his chewing to his own toys. Just remember that unattended snacks on the kitchen counter are considered fair game!

🐾 Greyhound Guy: Dave enjoys the company of fellow greyhounds and has shown off his social skills at group walks. Other breeds? Well, Dave has some opinions, and he is happy to share them.

Dave’s perfect home? One without cats, small animals, or small dogs. He would love a family that enjoys lively walks, appreciates a little greyhound comedy, and has plenty of affection to share.

Dave has the ears, the charm, the personality, and a whole lot of love to give. Now he just needs someone to share it all with.

A birthday, an adoption, and a brand-new adventure. 💙

Saturday was a very special day for Tikki. Not only did he celebrate his 4th birthday, but he also officially headed to his forever home with his new mom.

Before they hit the road, Tikki’s new mom and foster family put together a little birthday and adoption celebration for him and his foster brothers. It was a pretty perfect sendoff for a very loved boy.

Tikki and his new mom then began the journey home to Montana, and we are happy to share that, after some windshield time, a few coffees, and a few Starbucks pup cups along the way, they made it safely.

Now comes the best part: settling in, exploring a new home, and making a lifetime of memories together.

Happy 4th birthday, Tikki, and congratulations on finding your person. We cannot wait to see what this next chapter brings.

What a GREYT day at the Red River Derby in Oklahoma City!

GALT and Hounds of the Heartland came together Sunday for an afternoon of competition, community, and plenty of fun. We are also happy to report that GALT came away as this year’s tournament winner. 🏆

A huge thank you to everyone who brought the event to life, and to everyone who came out to play, cheer, socialize, and support both organizations.

Events like this one are a greyt reminder of how much fun it is when our communities come together.

We are already looking forward to the next one.
