Texas Pawprints Cat & Kitten Rescue Texas Pawprints and Cat Rescues is a small 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue located in Dallas, TX. We do not have a shelter or building. We appreciate your support.

Texas Pawprints and Cat Rescue is a small foster and volunteer-based rescue. Instead our kitties live with our fosters until they find their forever homes. We hold mobile adoption events at local pet stores on the weekends. You can find us every Sunday at Old Town PetSmart, 5500 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX. See our events page for our Saturday locations. If you see a kitty listed on our page that you are interested in learning more about, message the page ,and one of our volunteers will assist you. We specialize in rescuing cats and kittens that have no other place to go. Our rescues frequently arrive very young, very old or injured. We strive to care of them and find them the loving homes they deserve. Rescuing special needs kitties is expensive and and we receive no money or grants from any state, city or federal entity. We rely on the donations for our supports. You can donate via PayPal https://www.paypal.me/TexasPawprints

Extra veterinary care isn't always an emergency.

It can be blood work for a senior kitty, treatment for a URI or UTI, a prescription diet, or other care needed beyond routine vetting.

These costs can range from $100 to much more, depending on what each kitty needs.

One common surgery seen in rescue is eye removal, or enucleation.

Kitties born outside can become extremely ill. Sometimes an upper respiratory infection affects an eye so severely that the eye cannot be saved and must be removed.

With proper care, these kitties can go on to live happy, full lives.

These surgeries usually cost at least $500—and that doesn't include treatment for the illness that caused the damage in the first place.

Sometimes, a kitty comes into rescue with an injury or medical condition that requires extra veterinary care.

A broken leg can mean X-rays, treatment, a cast, follow-up visits, and time to heal.

These costs can range from a couple hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, depending on the severity.

While kitties are waiting for their forever homes, foster families provide the love, care, and a safe place to stay.

They need supplies. We've talked about the obvious ones—food and litter—but so many more supplies are needed to help provide a safe and enriched environment while kitties wait for their forever homes.

Think Bowls • Litter Boxes • Bedding • Carriers • Toys • Scratchers • Cleaning Supplies

Some fosters need much more depending on the age and needs of their kitties.

While kitties are waiting for their new homes, they stay in foster homes. Foster supplies help keep them happy, healthy, and comfortable.

We've already talked about food. Another necessary supply is kitty litter.

One recognizable brand of kitty litter costs about $29 for 38 pounds. And foster kitties can go through a lot of litter while they're waiting for home.

We've looked at a lot of the individual pieces of the cost of getting a kitty from rescue to home. Now let's add them up.

Let's assume a healthy 3-month-old female kitty comes into rescue. What is the actual cost of routine vetting?

Flea treatment — $15
Dewormer — $5
Vaccinations — $35
Combo test — $25
Spay — $40
Microchip — $20

Total: $140

And that's for a healthy kitty with no complications.
