We laugh because… we’ve seen this reaction from a few clients before. 😂

But this is also why we’re such big believers in crate training.

A crate isn’t punishment. When introduced properly, it’s a safe place for your dog to relax, switch off, and stay out of trouble when you can’t supervise them.

Because sometimes preventing the chaos is a whole lot easier than coming home and discovering your couch has exploded. 💥🛋️🐶

Crate train the dog.

Fourteen years ago, DogFit Dallas was built on one simple belief: when we better understand dogs, we create calmer homes.

What started as one trainer's passion has grown into a team of experienced professionals dedicated to helping families build trust, confidence, and lasting relationships with their dogs.

Through our MAJIC philosophy - Meaningful, Accountable, Joyful, Integrity, and Connection - we don't just train dogs. We coach families, transform relationships, and help create calm wherever life takes you.

This is who we are.
This is why we do what we do.
Welcome to the DogFit family. ❤️🐾

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. 🇺🇸

250 years later, I’m grateful for a country that has given me the opportunity to build a life. I’ve had seasons of plenty and seasons of little, but one thing I’ve learned is this: true peace and happiness aren’t found in our circumstances—they’re found within.

Model ⚡️Bolt ⚡️, one of my favorite dogs of all time.

We have a lot of new followers here so I wanted to share a video we share every June 30th. 12 years ago I met Anne Ortiz when she hired me to train her dog Luna.

Enjoy a little story on how we met.

🎄✨ Hi… my name is Kirby. ✨🎄

I’m the best girl with the shortest spine (it’s called short spine syndrome), but don’t worry — it doesn’t slow me down one bit. I’ve been with since I was just a puppy, and for the last 3 years they’ve loved me, cared for me, and believed in me.

Right now, I’m being fostered by , and while I’m so grateful for them, what I want more than anything is a place to call home. That’s my Christmas wish this year. 🎁🤍

A little about me:
🐾 I’m about 3–4 years old
🐾 Crate trained & potty trained
🐾 I walk nicely on leash
🐾 I love other dogs — especially the happy, playful ones — and I politely give older dogs their space
🐾 I’m great with kids
🐾 I LOVE toys (like… really love them — all of them 😄)

My foster people tell me I’m a very good girl. So sometimes I wonder… why haven’t I been adopted yet? Maybe my person just hasn’t seen me yet.

If you think we might be meant for each other, please reach out to and fill out an application to meet me. I’d love nothing more than that.

And if you can’t adopt, would you share my story near and far? Surely my forever home is out there somewhere — I might just need a little help finding it.

Love,
Kirby 🐾🤍

We get it, when you start your training journey, things can feel pretty overwhelming. Your trainer will tell you about all the things to do differently and sometimes that can feel like a lot. If that is the case for you, don’t let it get to you. It’s normal. We do our best to give you a game plan that will rewire your entire relationship with your dog, and that may entail a lot of different things. If it feels like a lot of change, start with one thing. Example - focus on thresholds. And do that diligently every day. Or, if one of your things is to keep the dog off the furniture, for example, work on that with the help of place work. Don’t try to change everything all at once if it feels like a lot. Master one thing and then add on to it. Think of an ABC - you master step A first, then you add B because in combination with A because you already mastered A, so it becomes an AB. And so on. Break it down into more digestible parts, and you will soon notice that one step leads to another and so on. And, if you focus on that one thing, you’re already redoing a big chunk of the work because your dog will notice your commitment to it. So, start small, grow tall. 😊

Dog training isn’t linear, and it’s not a cookie cutter approach. At least for us. Yes, there are basics that all dogs can or should learn but how you get there will not look the same with every dog.

We use all sorts of different approaches, tools, food, no food, toys, space, time, a playful approach, a calm and patient approach. It all depends on the dog in front of you, how they learn, what motivates them, what makes them feel good, safe and secure. Sometimes it takes a lot of consistency for it to click. Sometimes it clicks right away. And sometimes, we work in one approach and it works for a little while but then it doesn’t anymore and we pivot. We want to be open to that as well. It is all a journey. The best for us is to stay open minded, be creative and work with whatever the dog is giving you in any given moment.

Picture of handsome Chevy of because we recently learned that he found his forever home and we are so dang happy for him! ♥️
