🐾 Apollo’s Journey ~ From Vision Loss to Seeing the World Again 💙
Apollo was referred to the VEI Orlando after developing Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a serious viral disease that was once considered universally fatal but is now highly treatable thanks to advances in antiviral therapy.
Under the specialized care of Dr. Frances Torres, Apollo’s eye condition was carefully evaluated and treated. FIP can affect many different parts of the body, and in Apollo’s case, it caused severe inflammation and bleeding inside both eyes, leading to retinal detachments. The retina is the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye, and when it detaches, sudden vision loss can occur.
With successful FIP treatment and specialized ophthalmic care, the inflammation resolved, both retinas reattached, and Apollo regained vision in both eyes.
Today, Apollo is comfortable, happy, and back to exploring the world around him. ❤️
His story is a wonderful reminder of the incredible progress in veterinary medicine and how dedicated care, advanced treatment, and early referral can help turn even the most challenging cases into stories of hope and recovery.
Thank you to Apollo’s family for trusting us to be part of his journey. We couldn’t be happier to see him back to living his best life. 🐱✨
