STUD FEES! 💰
I've been breeding Bulldogs for nearly 30 years, and there's something I've always been curious about when it comes to stud services.
I currently have FOUR studs that I offer to the public, and guess what? My stud fee is EXACTLY THE SAME for all four!
Why?
Because I believe every one of my boys brings tremendous value to a breeding program. Each has his own strengths, qualities, genetics, structure, and characteristics. And depending on the female he's paired with, each one has the potential to produce something exceptional!
Here's where my thinking gets a little controversial...
When I see a breeder advertising one stud for $500 and another for $2,500, I can't help but wonder...
If one is worth five times more than the other, what does that say about the $500 stud?
Is he somehow less worthy of contributing to the breed? Does he lack something the more expensive stud has? Or is the price simply based on popularity, color, pedigree, or demand?
Should he even be bred?
Is he breed worthy?
Now, don't misunderstand me. A higher stud fee doesn't automatically mean a better dog, and a lower stud fee doesn't automatically mean an inferior dog.
But here's my philosophy:
EVERY STUD IN MY PROGRAM SHOULD BE WORTHY OF IMPROVING THE BREED. PERIOD.
If I don't believe a male brings genuine value through health, temperament, structure, and genetics, then why would I offer him as a stud in the first place?
To me, breeding isn't about having a cheap option and an expensive option. It's about having the RIGHT option for the RIGHT female.
That's why I believe in offering four quality studs at one consistent price.
