Hard to believe that back in April/May, this 14 lb. stumpy-tailed behemoth was only 8 lb, and dying in a shelter with a URI so bad he couldn’t eat.
It’s only taken
2 seizures — one of which killed him but luckily he was at Kay Foundation and Dr. G and Dayton Lazarused him;
two surgically-implanted feeding tubes (he decided to yank the first out one day);
countless bottles of Royal Canin recovery “shake;”
a neuro FIP battle;
and my heart….
But my best buddy is going for a home try out today.
Pray for ya girl, because I am not OK… and I don’t think his stalker, Uncle Harold, is gonna be OK, either.
Who is gonna wrap both oddly-strong arms around my head and lick all the skin off my nose?
Who is gonna hop up and bite me for no good reason, then run away sideways, like he’s possessed?
Who is gonna lie in the middle of the floor and manage the house, while the other pets walk up to him and pay him tribute all day, or presenting their heads to him for licks?
But this is always the goal, right?
So I can make room to help more…
Right?
I have to remind myself of that extra-hard with cats like Nick.
