If your pet experiences a medical emergency while we're closed, please contact your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

Summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors with your pet, but rising temperatures can quickly become dangerous. Keep these warm-weather safety tips in mind:

• Avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day and always provide plenty of fresh water and shade.
• Test pavement with the back of your hand before walks. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet's paws.
• Never leave your pet unattended in a parked car—even for a few minutes.

If your pet shows signs of heat stroke, such as excessive panting, weakness, vomiting, or collapse, seek veterinary care immediately.

We're excited to welcome Dr. Lindsey Merrill to the Lakewood Veterinary Center team!
Originally from Charleston, West Virginia, Dr. Merrill graduated from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 and is Fear Free Certified. She enjoys building long-lasting relationships with clients while helping pets live happy, healthy lives, and has a special interest in surgery and dermatology.

When she's not caring for patients, Dr. Merrill enjoys spending time with her husband and their son, Owen, along with their two dogs, Pork Chop and Potato, and their two cats, Leo and Ollie. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, baking, gardening, and going on new adventures with her family.
