One of the biggest mindset shifts is letting go of the idea that dogs are “stubborn.”

Most dogs aren’t actively choosing to ignore us. More often, one of three things is happening:

🐾 The behavior hasn’t been taught clearly enough yet.
🐾 The environment is too distracting for their current skill level.
🐾 We are asking for something they don’t fully understand.

Imagine being asked to solve a problem in a language you’re still learning. You wouldn’t be stubborn…you’d be confused.

When training isn’t going the way we hoped, try replacing “My dog is being stubborn” with “What information is my dog missing?”

That simple shift changes the conversation from frustration to problem-solving. Don’t let frustration ruin your relationship. We are always happy to provide recommended trainers to help you!

In addition to rescuing dogs we do a lot of community outreach for cats in need as well! For feral colonies we support TNR to prevent further litters, if there are kittens or social cats in the colony we work with cat specific rescue partners to get them off the streets and into a home!

We often need a safe landing place for only a few short weeks before our cat rescue partners can take them in to their adoption programs. If you have a spare bedroom or bathroom that’s all that is needed to successfully save a cat! All of our cat fosters are short term commitments, a few days in a foster can make all of the difference to a cat in need.

Fostering saves lives even though it is not always convenient.

We got a call today about a tiny kitten found sitting in an asphalt parking lot on a 95 degree day. This baby is only about 10 days old and may now survive (we looked and looked for the mom and other kittens).

Without fosters, we would not be able to help this tiny baby. Please consider volunteering.

Meet Gretchen Weiners!

This spunky little 6 lbs long hair chihuahua is going up for adoption soon! True to her name, Gretchen can’t help but being cute and loves in the color pink.

She’s looking for a home that can provide her routine and a quiet space because when you are a little dog who was out in a really big world things can get scary!

She likes to cuddle but is also happy being independent. She’s potty and crate trained.

Her full bio will be available in our website shortly, in the meantime, you can fill out an application on our website if you are interested in her.

Please note that due to her size and preference for more quiet environments she isn’t a fit for a home with children.
