We are proud to partner with the SPCA of Texas to help newly adopted pets start off strong in their new homes. Through our Healthy Start program, each pet receives a free initial exam and personalized care, support, and guidance from our teams.

Meet this week's Monday Mutt Crush, Thor! Thor has the kind of face that makes you want to stop, kneel down beside him and whisper, “You’re safe now, buddy.” With his gorgeous, fluffy coat, warm loving smile and soulful eyes, this handsome 7-year-old German Shepherd mix has a quiet sweetness that reaches straight into your heart.

At 72 pounds, Thor is a big boy with an especially gentle spirit. He isn’t looking for a whirlwind of excitement or a house full of commotion. What Thor seems to want most is something wonderfully simple: a quiet place, a kind person and the chance to finally feel safe.

Once Thor knows he can trust you, you’ll discover what a special companion he is. A foster who spent time with him couldn’t say enough good things about this beautiful boy, describing him as fantastic, calm, sweet and obedient. Those are the kinds of words that tell you there is so much goodness tucked beneath that fluffy coat.

Thor may be 7 years old, but he has plenty of love left to give. Meet this week's Mutt Crush Monday, Cash! Cash is an 8-year-old Hound mix with the kind of face that makes you want to stop everything, sit beside him, and say, “Well hello there, handsome!” Just look at those big floppy ears, soulful dark eyes, and sweet smile. Cash has mastered the art of looking both wise and absolutely adorable at the same time.

At 47 pounds, Cash is a wonderful companion-sized gentleman with a heart that is even bigger than his ears. He has a fun-loving spirit and an easygoing personality that makes being around him feel wonderfully uncomplicated. Cash enjoys getting out and exploring, especially when there are interesting smells waiting to be investigated. After all, he is a Hound, and the world is basically one giant mystery written in scents!

But Cash isn’t all about adventure. He’s also perfectly happy to slow things down and spend time with his favorite people. A leisurely stroll, a little sniffing, some quality companionship, and a cozy place to relax sound like a pretty fantastic day to this sweet boy.

Cash is the kind of dog who seems to understand that the best things in life are simple: being near someone you love, having a little fun, feeling safe, and knowing you belong. He’s loyal, gentle, playful, and ready to share all that love with someone special.

Cash is looking for a Foster to Adopt family while awaiting a dental procedure. Fostering with the SPCA of Texas is FREE—we provide all the food, bowls, toys, medications, medical care, etc. Cash’s foster family will simply provide love and bring him in for a few scheduled veterinary appointments before he’s ready to put his best smile forward. 🐾 2,441 pounds of pet food!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our clients and VCA teams across North Texas, our First Annual Summer Pet Food Drive collected 2,441 pounds of dog and cat food and 1,049 storage bags for the Don't Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank!

These donations will help DFW families experiencing hardship continue caring for the pets they love, helping keep pets fed, safe at home, and together with their families.

To every person who dropped off a bag, can, or donation at one of our hospitals: thank you! You helped make an incredible difference for the pets and people in our community.

We're already looking forward to doing it again next summer! 🐶🐱💚

Named after the adventurous and lovable character from Adventure Time, Cake is full of curiosity, fun, and enough happiness to brighten even the cloudiest day.

At 45 pounds, she's the perfect size for all kinds of adventures. Whether she's exploring a new trail, sniffing out hidden treasures in the backyard, or zooming through the grass with pure joy, Cake approaches every day with excitement and enthusiasm. To her, the world is one big playground filled with interesting things to discover.

One of the best things about Cake is her playful spirit.
