Today, Saturday 8/29, is our last day at Saint Michael's Farmers Market for the regular season! (The season officially closes September 5th.) 🥹🐾
👩🏻🍳 On March 23, 2023, Leo’s Bark officially became a business. Then, on June 3, 2023, I was SO excited to debut at my very first in-person pop-up market at Saint Michael's Farmers Market
It was my first opportunity to actually hand our treats to customers, let the dogs taste them, and ask for feedback.
And the dogs were incredible. 😂 Some looked at me..or immediately at their mommy/daddy..with absolute DELIGHT and asked for more with their eyes and a tilt of their head. Some wagged their tails. Some wandered off. Some basically said, “Maybe next time, Leo…but I’ll take a love scratch.” 😂
Over the last 3+ years, so many of you have consistently stopped by on Saturday mornings just to chat, check in on us, support us, encourage me, and ask about Leo.
I don’t think you realize how much those little interactions have meant to me. ❤️
Running a small business mostly on my own—and making everything by hand—can feel incredibly lonely and exhausting sometimes. There are days when I’m tired, overwhelmed, and wondering how I can do this.
And then, I have ONE conversation with you.
Someone tells me how much their dog only loves our treats. Someone asks how the business is going. Someone tells me they saw us at luckydog. A dog recognizes the booth and drags their human over. 😂
And I remember exactly why I chose this.🙏🙏🙏
SERIOUSLY, thank you for my mental health. 😂❤️ Thank you for giving me a reason to get out of the kitchen, talk to actual humans, laugh, pet your dogs, and remember that there are real people and very enthusiastic little customers on the other side of all this work that rely on me.
Three years later, the processes haven’t changed all that much, the ingredients haven’t changed at all.
I’m a little slower.
My body is a little weaker.
Leo helps exactly the same amount. (Zero.) 😂
But we’re still here. 👩🏻🍳🐻❄️
And a huge part of that is because of you.
