Friends of Dallas Animal Services

Friends of Dallas Animal Services (DAS) is a 501c3 nonprofit partner of DAS, one of the country's largest open intake shelter.

Friends of Dallas Animal Services exists to directly benefit Dallas Animal Services by supporting programs and services that further its vision of providing compassionate care of shelter animals and finding positive outcomes for placeable pets. It is comprised of a group of devoted individuals who, first and foremost, believe that all animals deserve the highest quality of life. We understand the importance of credible partnerships and are determined to leverage those relationships in a way that elevates the work of DAS. Friends of DAS directly benefits DAS by supporting programs and services that further its vision of providing compassionate care of shelter animals and finding positive outcomes for all placeable pets. DAS envisions a sustainable live release rate of above 90% through its Dallas90 initiative. DAS achieved this goal for the first time in history in 2020 and needs your help to continue this positive trend. Meet David , the sweetest boy with so much love to give! ❤️

David is a fun, affectionate and playful pup who is ready to find his loving family! David is enjoying life in foster care, where his sweet personality continues to shine.

This lovable boy has so many wonderful qualities! He’s potty trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, knows “sit” and “down” and is great with kids and other dogs! He also loves car rides, playing with toys and curling up for some well-deserved snuggles and naps.

Whether he’s having fun with a dog friend or soaking up attention from his favorite people, he’s just happy to be part of the fun!

David is currently in foster care and waiting for his family! Could you be the one he’s been waiting for? 🐾

Have you or someone you know lost a pet recently?

Dallas Animal Services (DAS) takes in dozens of pets daily. Every pet is entered automatically into Petco LoveLost, and many other local shelters utilize this service.

As soon as your pet goes missing, please make a report on the Petco LoveLost website and search the site for your lost pet.

Visit Dallas Animal Services at 1818 North Westmoreland Road at the green Intake doors for assistance.

Operating hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We know how stressful and heartbreaking it can be when a beloved pet goes missing. Don’t lose hope and please share this information with friends, family and neighbors to help more lost pets find their way back home. 🩵

Take a dog on a daycation! 🌞🐾

Doggie Daycations give the public an opportunity to take our adoptable dogs out for a day away from the shelter. During your daycation, you are encouraged to take plenty of photos and videos, and fill out a report card at the end of your trip. The more photos and information we have for our adoptable dogs, the more they’ll stand out to potential adopters!

There will be multiple dogs to choose from for your daycation and you will be given options the morning of the daycation when you arrive at the shelter. Not every dog is eligible for a Daycation, and the dogs most in need of a Daycation are medium-to-large-sized dogs. We try to have a range of sizes and energy levels available to choose from, but may not always be able to accommodate requests for small or low-energy dogs. Please be prepared to handle a 40+ lb. dog for your Daycation. All supplies needed for a Daycation, including a harness and leash, will be provided.
