PERSONAL UPDATE + UPCOMING GROOMING CLOSURE
I’ve put off making this post official for as long as I could, but it’s time to let everyone know that our grooming shop will be temporarily closing at the end of September while I undergo surgery and recover.
Since June 1, I have been dealing with severe pain from a hip injury along with complications from a surgery I had about 18 months ago. I was originally looking at revision surgery this summer, but I made the decision to push it back until the end of September so I could get through our busy summer season and continue meeting the grooming, boarding, and summertime needs of our Attaboy families.
Now it’s time for me to finally take care of me.
My surgery is scheduled for September 29. While this will keep me out of work as a paramedic for a minimum of five months, I am hopeful that, if recovery goes well, I may be able to begin VERY light grooming again around 6–8 weeks post-op.
If I learned anything from my last surgery, though, it’s that I cannot rush this recovery. I will have to protect myself from being pushed or knocked by larger dogs and avoid lifting, excessive bending, and anything else that could jeopardize the repair. When I’m ready, I’ll reach out to my easier grooming clients individually and slowly work my way back.
I’ve already spoken with many of my regular grooming clients, and I’ve intentionally left more room in my September schedule to accommodate as many final appointments as I safely can. Current clients can check the app for remaining September availability.
NAIL CLINIC — SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 | 2–6 PM
Because nails are one of those things that just keep growing whether I’m working or not, I’m holding one final nail clinic two days before surgery.
This clinic is specifically for Attaboy Farm clients so we can get those nails trimmed and dremeled as close to my surgery date as possible and hopefully buy everyone a little extra time while I recover.
To attend, you MUST:
• Be in our customer system
• Have a current rabies vaccine on file
• Have our waiver signed
Please expect that there may be a line. I’m asking everyone to be patient with me and with each other so I can get as many dogs taken care of as possible.
While you wait, you’re welcome to walk your dog on leash through the gravel areas or around the pond. Please do not enter or visit the fenced play yards, as those areas are reserved for our boarding guests.
BOARDING GUESTS — BUSINESS AS USUAL!
Attaboy Farm boarding is NOT closing. I’ll still be here running things behind the scenes, and our boarding dogs will continue receiving the individualized care, enrichment, structure, walks, treats, snuggles, and farm time they’re used to.
The biggest temporary change will be grooming services and exit baths.
During my recovery, I will not be able to offer our normal full range of grooming add-ons. For stays over five nights, some short-haired dogs may still be able to receive their complimentary exit bath depending on the dog, my recovery, and the day of departure. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis and, in most situations, will NOT include a nail trim or dremel.
Unfortunately, some exit baths will simply have to be skipped while I recover.
IF YOUR DOG NEEDS GROOMING WHILE I’M OUT:
I don’t want any of my clients to feel like they’re being left without somewhere to go. While I’m recovering, I am referring anyone who needs grooming services to Groomer Gals Pet Salon & Playground in Frankford.
It’s important to me that if I recommend another groomer, it is someone I genuinely trust with your dogs. Groomer Gals is a business I truly trust for high-quality care and, just as importantly, for sharing the same genuine love of dogs that we have here at Attaboy. I feel very comfortable sending our Attaboy families their way while I’m unable to take care of you myself.
Most importantly, thank you.
Thank you for supporting Attaboy Farm, for trusting me with your dogs, and especially for being so understanding while we navigate this curveball life decided to throw our way.
I am incredibly grateful for every single one of you. I’ll still be here, still running Attaboy, and probably having a very difficult time sitting still — I’ll just be doing a lot more of it from behind the scenes for a little while.
Please check our app for remaining grooming availability through September, and as always, feel free to message us with any questions.
Thank you for giving me the grace to finally take the time I need to heal so I can come back and keep doing what I love for many years to come.💗🙏🏼
