Fourteen years ago, Barking Up Trees started with a simple belief: dogs deserve days filled with adventure, enrichment, understanding, and joy.
Looking back through the archives (swipe through for a serious trip down memory lane! 📸➡️), it’s hard to put into words what this journey has meant. From our very first pack walks through Orléans trails to the hundreds of wagging tails, goofy trail smiles, puppy milestones, and breakthrough training moments—every single step has been unforgettable.
To our incredible clients: thank you for trusting us with your furry family members day in and day out. You’ve let us be part of their lives, and in doing so, you’ve built a community that feels like family.
To the dogs—past, present, and the ones who started it all: thank you for the muddy paws, the unconditional joy, and for teaching us something new every single day.

Happy International Dog Day

I have to admit, I’m not usually one for all the “themed” days. It’s hard to keep up with the flavour of the day sometimes.

But today, I wanted to say a special thank you to everyone out there who has allowed me to photograph your dogs. That seems like a broad statement, as it is, but I’ve photographed so many different types and breeds of dogs in my career it’s given me pause.

Pets. Rescues (the best). Therapy dogs. Service dogs. Working dogs. Dogs truly are the epitome of everything that’s good, aren’t they? Whatever their “role” in our lives, in my experience, all they want is to be near us, to make us proud, make us feel safe/better/happy. And without fail, they offer it to us unconditionally.

Happy international dog day to all of the good boys and girls out there; life without you would be that much less.

Today the world lost a ray of light. RIP Miss Dolly Parton, a true icon. I've always loved this song about her dog she found :)

So excited for the Canadian Veteran Service Dog Unit as they undertake their biggest fundraising campaign to date! It's heartening to see great corporate citizens like Navalis Foundation, Spartan Delta and Moving Heroes - Relocation across Canada supporting an amazing group like the CVSDU. I feel so fortunate to be a small part of it. :)

Happy Friday from Oreo! 🐾

This goofy, full-of-personality boy made for one of the most fun sessions out on the trails.
