Penelope wonders why she doesn’t have a family of her own yet🥹 She is a smart, independent baby dog who LOVES roughhousing with the resident dogs.

Penelope does well in a crate, goes to the door to let you know she needs a potty break, and is overall an easy pup🐾

Penelope is still waiting for a family! She is back at FPS homebase, but she deserves a home of her own. She is still very much puppy and learning comes easy to her. We did steal her foster mamas post…this is what she had to say:

Hello fine folks of Facebook! Meet our new foster baby (with the cutest ear that does what it wants 😂).

Miss Penelope — “Penny” for short.

Sweet little Penny is looking for her forever home! 🩷 She’s an adorable mixed pittie girl, around 12 weeks old, with a whole lot of personality packed into one little puppy.

Penny is already off to a great start:

🐶 Potty training: Doing really well, although she’s still a baby and may have the occasional accident.
🏠 Crate training: Does great in her crate with minimal fuss.
🦴 Commands: Already knows “sit” and is currently working on “stay” and “down.”
🦮 Leash skills: Learning how to walk nicely on a leash and making progress.
🎾 Playtime: LOVES toys of all kinds, but her self-moving ball is definitely a favorite.
💕 Snuggles: She absolutely loves to cuddle once she settles down—it just takes her a minute because Penny has some serious puppy FOMO and doesn’t want to miss anything happening around her. 😂
🐕 Other dogs: She does well meeting new puppy friends and enjoys being around them.
🏡 Stays close: Penny isn’t one to take off running and naturally likes to stay near her people.

Penny is playful, curious, affectionate, and eager to learn. She’s at such a fun age where she’s soaking up everything around her, and she’s looking for a family who will continue helping her learn while giving her plenty of playtime, love, and snuggles.

🐾 Although we have been closed for intake for quite awhile, we still have dogs in our care. 🐾

When we first started rescue, Sarah became one of our supporters. She helped us raise funds by selling shirts for our medical fund and getting the word out about our organization while she was working at Roanoke Island Animal Clinic. Chances are if you called down to the clinic and made a donation on our account you spoke with her. Sarah and Clay adopted a very special dog, Ruby, from us when we were just beginning to not stress out about taking on medical dogs, partly in thanks to Sarah! Penelope is still waiting for a family to call her own💕 She makes herself comfortable wherever she goes so we know she will not have trouble adjusting.🏡

Penelope is very smart, playful and willing to learn new things. 📚 She is all puppy and does occasionally need reminders as to what is appropriate to mouth on. Dr. Burkart saw her this week and estimated her to be 10-11 weeks old so we prefer that she goes into a home with another dog as we think that will help her continue to thrive. Penelope takes corrections well from both humans and dogs well. 🐾

💕Welcome, Penelope💕

Thanks to an amazing foster family, we were able to pull this adorable girl from our friends over at Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter today! She’s already won over her foster mom and dad, and we are sure it won’t take long to find her a permanent family.

Stay tuned for an updated post in the near future. For now, we know she like chewing on things, snuggling, and zoomies.💕
