The mission of the 1st Virginia Cavalry is to preserve the bond between the Commonwealth of Virginia and its military equestrian traditions, to aid in recruiting efforts for the Virginia Defense Force and the Virginia National Guard, and to enhance awareness of the Virginia State Guard Association’s efforts to support military service within the Commonwealth of Virginia. e 1st Virginia Cavalry’s troopers, comprised of active members from the Virginia Defense Force and the Virginia National Guard, will demonstrate precision horsemanship and cavalry tactics, drill and ceremony in state, national, and international military events, parades, ceremonies, rodeos, and other community demonstrations. Our vision is to showcase the excellence of Virginia military horsemanship and to support every call of duty from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
