🐾 FOUND DOG – IS THIS BEAUTIFUL GIRL YOURS? 🐾

This striking black-and-white female was found near the construction area along Veterans Parkway (589) off N. Summerwind Avenue in Crystal River.

Workers reported she had been wandering the area for several days, weaving under vehicles and heavy equipment before Animal Services was finally able to safely secure her.

🖤 Black and white mixed breed

On a cold winter morning, Three Sisters Springs in Crystal River turns into one of the most magical wildlife scenes in all of Florida. The water glows an impossible shade of turquoise, and gathered within it, resting shoulder to shoulder, are dozens of manatees seeking the warmth of the springs. 🐾

Three Sisters is a cluster of connected spring vents that feed into Kings Bay, pumping out clear water at a constant temperature near 72 degrees. When the Gulf and the rivers turn cold, that steady warmth is exactly what the manatees need to survive. They crowd into the calm, protected pools by the hundreds during the coldest snaps, making it one of the most reliable winter manatee gatherings in the state.

The springs are so sensitive that access is carefully controlled to protect the animals. Visitors often view them from a boardwalk, while snorkelers can sometimes share the water under strict rules that keep a respectful distance. Seeing that many gentle giants packed into one glowing spring is a reminder of how much these fragile places matter, and how easily they could be lost. 💙

Micki Micki You're so fine...!!
Hey Micki!

This pretty girl and enthusiastic greeter is Micki! She is intensely affectionate and will be excited to see you even if you only went out to get the mail. She would also want you to know that she is so very sweet and will promise to be your BEST best friend!

Micki is a 2-yr old Lab/bully mix weighing about 45 lbs and is just happy to wake up each day being loved. Her favorite pastime is cuddling up with her people and doing whatever you like to do, whether that's watching TV, doing laundry or even just going to the bathroom!

Micki really enjoys walks and does well on a leash. She watches the squirrels and bunnies and probably later dreams of actually catching them one day but for now, she will redirect fairly easily. She is social and loves meeting people and other dogs - to her that means more friends! Micki prefers to do her "potty business" in the comfort of her enclosed yard, so a fenced yard will be a requirement for her.

Her current foster home has a dog but no cats or kids. We were told that she did well with dogs, cats, and kids in a previous foster home. Because she will excitedly jump upon greetings or play, kids should be 10+ years old.

Both house and crate trained, Micki is also up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed. She is currently heartworm positive. It is not contagious to others and treatment will be provided by Suncoast Animal League. We are happy to answer any questions about that.

Micki is a gal that isn't afraid to show her love and affection and once you experience that, it is sure to win you over!

**New fosters must participate in a short training prior to fostering. Otherwise, you must be a regular foster. There is also additional training/information provided if you are fostering a heartworm positive dog. We want you to be prepared!**

On July 30, 2026, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting alleged animal cruelty at a residence and business located at 4430 S. Tonya Terrace in Homosassa. The call was initiated after the owners of two dogs boarded at the Pampered Paws Ranch facility were informed that both animals had died while under the care of the business owner, Nicole Palmer.

Deputies and Animal Control Officers (ACOs) arriving on scene detected a strong odor consistent with deceased animals. Items connected to a dog-boarding operation were found in multiple locations across the property. Deputies were able to gain access to a converted garage where the two deceased dogs had been kept.

Inside the enclosed room, ACOs documented severe environmental neglect. The space contained large accumulations of f***s, urine, garbage, and debris. No visible water source was present, and investigators could not confirm the availability of air conditioning despite ongoing heat advisories.

Deputies identified a total of eight boarded dogs on the property. Conditions inside the main residence were similarly hazardous, including excessive waste, high indoor temperatures, and minimal access to clean water. One additional dog was found with a serious, untreated eye infection.

All remaining dogs were immediately secured by Animal Control. Several owners responded to reclaim their dogs, while others were transported to the Citrus County Animal Shelter for evaluation and evidence preservation.

Nicole Palmer, 43, of Homosassa, was arrested on two felony counts of animal cruelty. Additional charges may be forthcoming as veterinary examinations continue and the investigation progresses.
