Slightly outside our normal pet sitting duties- but while staying with Merit and Ruby, we also got to introduce these two new beauties to the great outdoors!

Did you know that all that sniffing dogs do is really important for their health? They have 300 MILLION scent receptors, so sniffing is how they interpret everything in their environment. Processing all that information requires intense concentration, which exhausts a lot of pent up energy. It also lowers cortisol and blood pressure, releases endorphins and reduces stress and anxiety.

Sweet Nyla took this to heart today- in 20 minutes we barely covered a square block radius, but she thoroughly sniffed EVERY blade of grass!
