There are some words you hope you don't have to write, and today, these are ours.
On Tuesday, we said goodbye to our heart horse, Chrissy.
She was surrounded by the MTR staff who love her deeply, and we are forever grateful to our veterinary team for the compassionate care they provided in her final moments.
The loss of Chrissy feels so devastating because her life was so incredibly beautiful. Our grief is only this deep because her impact reached so many people. Since 2008, she has changed the lives of thousands. Her legacy cannot be measured by the number of lessons she taught or the miles she walked. It lives in every person who discovered they were brave, every volunteer who found purpose beside her, every family who found hope at MTR, and every life she forever changed.
As Kelly Rodgers shared:
"Chrissy, it has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives to grow alongside you, and your legacy will continue to inspire our community for generations to come."
There will never be enough words to express what Chrissy meant to us or photos to show her great impact. She wasn't simply one of our horses—she became part of the heart and soul of this organization.
We will share details about a memorial service in the coming weeks. Until then, please send us the memories you have shared with Chrissy. They are beautiful reminders that Chrissy's legacy will continue to live on through every life she touched.
