The Anastasia's Light Mental Health Scholarship was created to help remove financial barriers for individuals seeking equine-assisted mental health services, ensuring more people in our community have access to meaningful support, healing, and connection.

Inspired by the life of Anastasia Gumbel, this fund carries forward the light and love she so freely shared with others. Through her compassion, leadership, and ability to uplift those around her, Anastasia made a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Established through funds raised by Anastasia’s Light during the Tread for Tomorrow fundraiser, this scholarship reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to alternative mental health therapies that offer hope and healing.

At MTR, we are proud to partner in continuing Anastasia’s legacy by helping individuals discover strength, connection, and their own light through equine-assisted mental health services.

You can help Anastasia’s light continue to shine for others. This Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. We also recognize that grief, loss, trauma, and the invisible weight carried by military members, veterans, and their families deserve compassion and support.

As Mental Health Awareness Month continues, may we remind one another that healing can begin in connection, community, and moments of peace. At MTR, we are grateful to offer spaces where individuals can slow down, breathe deeply, and find support through the presence of horses and nature. ❤️

Through connection with horses, our group HEAL sessions can help participants build confidence, emotional awareness, communication skills, and trust. From learning patience and mindfulness to practicing teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving, each interaction creates opportunities for growth in a calm, supportive environment. Horses have a unique way of helping us slow down, stay present, and better understand ourselves and others. 💛🐴

Nature-informed therapy can support emotional, physical, and mental well-being by combining traditional therapeutic approaches with the calming effects of the natural world. Benefits may include:

🌿Reduced stress and anxiety
🌿Improved emotional regulation
🌿Increased mindfulness and present-moment awareness
🌿Greater sense of calm and grounding
🌿Enhanced self-esteem and confidence
🌿Opportunities for reflection and personal growth
🌿Improved connection to self, others, and the environment
🌿Support for grief, trauma, burnout, and life transitions
🌿A less clinical, more comfortable setting for therapy
🌿Gentle movement and sensory engagement that can support nervous system regulation

On a farm setting like MTR, the natural rhythms of the environment, fresh air, open space, and presence of animals can help people feel more relaxed, connected, and emotionally safe during the therapeutic process.
