Let's play a game...

How many toes does Maverick have?

Maverick came fur his first kitten visit with us yesterday, and we all rushed to the room to count his toes toes!!

He is a purebred Maine C**n, and polydactyly (increased number of toes) is a genetic trait that this breed typically carries.

He has only been with his family for a day, so we had to introduce him to Churus for the first time, and he loved it! He is such a curious boy and we can't wait to watch him grow up.

She is a pro at chasing her own tail, but we also found she like to chase our ankles!

This past Saturday, we had the privilege to help out Jennings Animal Control with their first annual Vaccine and Microchip Clinic, completely free to the public. Needless to say, it was great success.

Over 100 dogs and cats vaccinated! That is amazing!

With a recent surge in rabies exposure around the country (even a positive case in Mire), vaccination has never been more important.

Thank you, Jennings Animal Control and volunteers. Thank you to the residents who came who out and waited in line for hours. Community outreach and service is something we are very passionate about at Rice City Animal Hospital, and we are so grateful to all who came out.

We all became Bulldog fans real quick!

Meet Gemma. She is 10 weeks old and filled with Bulldog sas. And she's pretty photogenic, too!

She loves her freeze-dried treats but has realized her teeth are better for biting and chewing fingers.

Today we said (kinda) good bye to Hana Perkins...we will still see her.

Hana is a certified dog trainer, and owner/founder of Southpaw Dog Training. She started with us part time, working Tuesdays and Thursdays, since we first opened, and spent the rest of her time starting up her own business. We are so proud of all the hard work and accomplishments she has made over this past year. It is truly bittersweet to see her go, but we know she will continue to do great things!

If you are ever in need of dog training, Hana is amazing.

We will miss you. Good luck sis!

Welcoming new puppies to our family!

💜 Ka-Nigh
Her name speaks the truth! She is all energy, getting the zoomies all around the exam room. She also might be part piranha. But that cute face definitely won us over.

💚 Creole
The cutest nugget ever! We couldn't get a good picture without her tongue out, but we're not mad. She was all over the clinic giving kisses. Which is good for her long naps later when she gets home.

🧡 Memphis
We don't get to see many Shelties around here, so this one had us drooling. The determination to get that treat did not fall short. And that coat of hair was so soft, perfect for snuggles.

If you've been to our clinic, you have probably met Raccoon. She has been with us a little over a year now.

She originally came to us as a stray from a colony here in Crowley. She was attacked by a raccoon (hence the name) and suffered some injuries to her neck, causing her voice to be a little raspy. She spent 10 days on rabies watch, and when she finally broke free, she popped up with ringworm, sending her right back to isolation. Once completely clear of all contagious diseases, she was vaccinated, spayed, and free!

We tried her with a foster, and turns out she is a solo cat kinda girl. So we decided to make her a permanent member of our team.

She is sometimes good a greeting clients. All the time not good at greeting other animals. She is a permanent chair potato. She has discovered how to break into cabinets...luckily also knowing hiw to break out. She has grown an appetite for crickets, helping with bug population. She has also learned how to sit for treats.

Happy belated 1 year, Raccoon. Our lives would be boring without you. 💜

Puppies, puppies, puppies! 🐶🐶

Meet the newest additions to the Rice City family.

🩵 Rip - 12 week old Boykin Spaniel
He is very treat motivated, and he isn't picky either...he likes them all! He even needed a little help from Parker to sit still for his photo bc his nose was hunting treats. When not searching for treats, he enjoys adventures in the pond, in true bird dog fashion.

🧡 Jett - 8 week old ShihTzu
He became a part of his family at just right time...they needed a new cutie to love. He has a human brother that he enjoys chasing around the house. He found that the cool whip to distract him from his shots tastes really good, but at home he enjoys pant legs more.

💚 Dexter - 12 week old Corgi
If you know anything about Corgis, you know his butt wiggles do not disappoint. Bacon, you say? Yes, he loves his bacon treats. And every toy in the house belongs to him, bc he steals them!

💜 Josie - 12 week old ShihTzu
She hit the jackpot with her family. She has a human brother that she is obsessed with. She's a little mischievous at night, chewing her puppy pads, but will fall back to sleep with her teddy toy. Peep that cute underbite in her head shaking photo!

Welcome to the family pups. We can't wait to watch you grow up, just not too fast.
