Now comes the hard part: these six puppies need homes.

We have been taking care of the medical side, and our staff and volunteers have been giving up their own time to help. Now we need our community.

Please share this post. Somewhere among your friends—or your friends' friends—may be the home one of these kids is waiting for.

If you're thinking about getting a dog, maybe this time rescue one instead of buying one.

We would love to find these puppies homes directly rather than add another burden to rescue organizations that are already overwhelmed.

We received our first donation of dog food for the pups in need! If you feel it in your heart to donate, we will appreciate anything!!!!!

Well, apparently we are in the dog food business now.

Good news: the two girls we thought needed to be spayed are done and doing well. The story of our rather eventful Sunday is here:

Then we discovered there is another girl. And, of course, the puppies.

But here's what I didn't fully understand before: these aren't our neighbor's dogs. Someone nearby keeps getting dogs and doesn't adequately feed or care for them. Our neighbor doesn't have much money. She simply can't watch them go hungry.

She could say, "They're not my dogs."

I could say the same.

So could you.

Then we would have established, quite successfully, that these dogs belong to nobody.

Except they're still hungry.

So I'm going to buy a metal container to keep food safe at her place. *If you'd like to throw $5 or $10 into the dog-food pot, call the office, send a check, or hand us a few dollars when you're here. We'll absorb the card fee.*

No guilt. No sad-puppy propaganda. 😄

What started with two wounded dogs has turned into several dogs and a litter of puppies who need us. If you want to know how we got here, please read the story:

This Sunday, we are starting the medical part. We will be spaying the girls, and members of our staff have volunteered to come in on their day off to help.

Now we need your help finding homes for the puppies. If at all possible, we would rather not add them to rescue organizations that are already overwhelmed.

The mom is truly a darling girl. Good-looking and sweet. If she were blond, we would call her Dolly. We can almost guarantee the babies will be like her. Then again, Dad was the milkman. LOL.

Please help us spread the word on Facebook and social media. If you have a little more time, we could also use help making phone calls and contacting rescue groups. We already have a list of contacts.

We will take care of the veterinary work. We need our community to help with the rest.

We can't solve the enormous problem of unwanted dogs. But we can wrap our heads around these dogs, right here, right now.

UPDATE: SHE HAS A HOME!!!!
This precious baby wandered up at one of our clients homes. She is completely overwhelmed and has too
many as is. She has money to put towards vet bills , this baby needs rehomed asap!!!!!! Please contact (256) 505-1242 if you or anyone you know can take this baby!!!! PLEASE!!!
