At under 10 lbs each, these sweet girls are pint-sized companions who do everything together—from sharing cozy nap spots to giving gentle comfort when things feel unfamiliar. Because their bond is so deep, they must be adopted together as a bonded pair.

Did you know? Most "stray" dogs are actually just down the street from home! 🐾
​Studies show that 70% of lost dogs are found less than a mile from their front door (and over 40% are within just 400 feet!).

​When we immediately load a roaming dog into a car or call animal control to take them to the shelter, it often makes it harder for their frantic family to find them. Shelters can quickly become overwhelmed, and keeping a healthy pet in their immediate community gives them the highest chance of a quick reunion.

​If you see a friendly, healthy dog wandering:

1-​Keep them local first: Walk the dog around the block and ask neighbors or mail carriers if they recognize them.

2-​Post online before moving them: Share a photo on local neighborhood groups, Nextdoor, and Facebook lost-and-found pages.

3-​Scan for a microchip: Take them to a nearby vet or shelter to scan for a chip without surrendering them.

4-​File a report: Call the shelter to file a found report.

UPDATE!!! Fred aka Pongo at the shelter- has been reunited with his owners! Thank you so much for sharing and helping us reunite them!!!

This handsome, sweet guy actually lives on the other side of the county from where he was picked up by ACO. We're not sure how that happened in a days time, as dogs generally live within a mile from where they're found. It’s truly a small miracle we were able to reunite them- thanks to you all for sharing his post!

Animal Control responded to a call yesterday afternoon on a very remote stretch of Smith Mountain Rd, where this handsome guy was found lying by the side of the road with a pile of dog food nearby.

​We’ve named him Harvey! 🐶

​While the circumstances suggest he may have been left behind, we're hopeful there's more to this story than meets the eye. Harvey is already neutered, has a fantastic temperament, and is in great physical shape (clean coat, no fleas or ticks!). Because he’s so well-cared for, we are holding out hope that there’s another explanation and a loving family is searching for him right now.

​A massive thank you to Officer Grove for getting Harvey safely off the road and into warm, caring hands. 💙
