🎃🐾 TIP TUESDAY: KEEP THE SCARES FUN, NOT FURRY! 👻🐾

Halloween is almost here! While costumes, candy, and spooky decorations are fun for people, they can create some not-so-fun situations for our four-legged friends.

Here are a few tips from Scruffy Tails Humane Society to keep your pets safe this Halloween! 🐶🐱

🍫 Keep the candy out of reach!
Chocolate, sugar-free candy containing xylitol, and raisins can be toxic to pets. Keep candy bowls and trick-or-treat bags away from curious paws!

🚪 Watch those doors!
With trick-or-treaters coming and going, even the calmest pet might get startled and slip outside. Consider keeping pets in a quiet, secure room during the festivities.

👻 Costumes aren’t for everyone!
If your pet doesn’t enjoy dressing up, skip the costume! If they do, make sure it doesn’t restrict their breathing, movement, or vision.

🕯️ Beware of spooky decorations!
Keep candles, electrical cords, fake cobwebs, and small decorations away from pets who might chew, swallow, or knock them over.

🐾 Make sure IDs are up to date!
Check that collars, ID tags, and microchip contact information are current, just in case your pet gets loose.

❤️ Give them a safe space!
Constant doorbells, unfamiliar visitors, and scary costumes can be overwhelming. A cozy room with familiar toys, fresh water, and a comfortable bed can help them feel secure.

🎃 Remember: Halloween should be full of treats, not trips to the emergency vet!

A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping your furry family members happy, healthy, and safe this spooky season. 🧡
