🍩 Happy National Donut Day from Crete Veterinary Clinic!

While most people are celebrating today with sprinkles and glaze, we couldn’t help but notice that some of our favorite feline friends have been training for this day all year long.

You know exactly what we mean—that perfect, tucked-in, sweet little circle they make when they’re deep in an afternoon nap. It’s the ultimate "Cat Donut"!🐱🍩

Whether your kitty is a glazed original, a fluffy powdered donut, or a tortoiseshell fritter, we want to see them!

👇 Drop a photo of your sleeping "cat donut" in the comments below to help us celebrate! 👇

⚡Stormy weather ahead, Crete pet parents! ⛈️

Thunderstorms can be pretty scary for our four-legged family members. When the skies turn gray and the lightning starts, a little preparation goes a long way in keeping them calm and safe.
Here are a few quick tips to help your pets weather the storm:

🏠 Bring them inside early: Don't wait for the first crack of thunder. Bring outdoor pets inside well before the storm hits.

🐾 Safe Space: Create a cozy "safe zone" in an interior room, basement, or crate. Add their favorite blanket, some toys, and maybe turn on a TV or white noise machine to drown out the booms.

🆔 Check those ID tags: Microchips and collar tags are lifesaving if a spooked pet accidentally bolts. Make sure your contact information is up to date!

🎒 Keep them distracted: A high-value treat, like a peanut-butter-filled puzzle toy, can work wonders to distract an anxious dog or cat.

😌 Comfort (But Stay Calm): It’s absolutely okay to comfort your pet if they are scared! Just try to keep your own energy calm and relaxed so they know everything is under control.

⚠️ A quick reminder:Never leave a frightened pet unattended on a balcony, porch, or tethered in the yard. Panic can cause them to do risky things to try and escape.

If your pet suffers from severe storm anxiety, please reach out to us! From supplements to prescription calming aids, we can help find a solution to make storm season much easier on your furry best friend.
Give us a call at (402) 826-2497. Stay safe and dry out there! ❤️🐶🐱

🐾 Keep the Tails Wagging, Crete! Let’s Talk Heartworm Prevention❤️

There is nothing better than watching our dogs zoom around the yard, completely carefree. We want to keep them that way all season long!

Because our Nebraska mosquitoes are officially out and about, now is the perfect time to give your pup the ultimate shield of protection.

Why a quick annual check is the best gift you can give them:

- Total Peace of Mind: A fast, simple blood test ensures your dog is clear and safe to start their preventative.

- Catches Hidden Gaps: Life happens! If a monthly dose was accidentally missed or spit up last year, testing catches it early when it's easiest to treat.

- Simple & Effective: Staying on top of a 12-month test schedule makes keeping them healthy completely stress-free.

Preventative care is the easiest, most loving way to protect your best friend from heartworm disease. Let's get ahead of the bugs together!

🗓️ Ready to protect your pup? Give us a call or send the clinic a message to get your annual check scheduled and grab your supply of monthly preventatives. Your dog will thank you! 🐶✨

☀️🐾 Beat the Heat: Quick Summer Safety Tips for Your Pups! 🐾☀️

As the high heat rolls around, our four-legged family members need a little extra help staying cool. Since dogs can't sweat like we do, they are much more vulnerable to high temperatures.
Keep your pups safe this summer with these quick tips:

•💧 Fresh Water Always: Keep cool water available at all times, and bring a portable bowl on walks.

• 🐾 Test the Pavement: If it’s too hot for your bare hand, it’s too hot for their paws! Stick to grass or walk during cooler morning/evening hours.

• 🚗 Never Leave Pets in Cars: Parked cars reach dangerous temperatures in minutes. When running errands, leave your pup safely at home in the AC.

• ⚠️ Know the Signs: Excessive panting, heavy drooling, lethargy, or bright red gums can signal heatstroke.

If you suspect your pet is overheating, move them to the shade, apply a cool, damp towel, and call our team immediately! Have a safe summer!
