High Stakes, less than 6 weeks ago he had never had a halter on. Now he leads, ties, loads, picks up all his feet, such a smart kid!

A well behaved grownup in the making!

High Stakes Session #14- His first time seeing a trailer and he handled it great... other than having a hard time controlling those long baby legs! 😂

High Stakes- After 12 sessions he is tying like a pro, learning how to yield and move around different types of pressure, has gotten baths, will lead and tie out of sight of his mom, and is continuing to impress me! At just 2 months old he is coming along incredibly!

Now the real test, see how much of this sticks after me being gone for a week long vacation! 😂

High Stakes session #7 and #8- He is walking like a grownup and had his first bath, this little guy is coming along great!

High Stakes' session #3- He is doing great so far and progressing fast.

It is never too early to start ground manners, much easier to do at this age then when they are 1000 pounds! Not only does it set them up for more successful training down the road, it helps keep farriers, vet staff, handlers, the horse, and you safe!

High Stakes’ session #2- Yesterday was his first day in a halter, with any rope or halter pressure he’d go up, back, and down on the ground. He’s already showing great progress just on day 2!

Welcome to horse COVID...

The world's head has exploded again, and I am still doing the same old thing; strapping on spurs and stepping into stirrups. Exactly like the last time the world's head exploded. Trying mightily to keep a leg on either side. Eyes up, heels down, and my mind in the middle.

Thing is...outside of sitting in the saddle, where is the middle for the rest of the world?

All the lost souls are howling to be centered. God knows I hear them when I open my Facebook and peruse for news of the world.

Loud and clear, folks screaming;

"The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"

It's not though. It's just a hiccup, a pause, in all our plans. Nobody needs to be right or wrong, or hung from the scaffolding for believing and doing other than you. Relax. The horses who are going to be fine, are going to be fine, we just need to keep looking after them. And the ones who aren't, we'll pray and we will grieve, and we will go on. That is life. It's how it has always been. Wringing our hands and screaming doom and gloom doesn't do a damned bit of good, other than make us sound hysterical and give everyone around us a headache.

Keep it real.

Eyes up, heels down, and your mind in the middle.

We will catch you on the other side. ♥️

Have a good day folks. 😊
