⚾Sponsoring the Ladoga Canners was a blast this year!⚾

We loved cheering on the team and being part of such a great season. Hopper, our Director of Morale🐾, was a regular at the ballpark—patiently waiting for his favorite part of the evening: his laps around the field after each game with his favorite player #17!

A big thank you to the players, coaches, families, and fans for making this season so much fun.

❤️ Why Are Cardiac Ultrasounds So Important in Veterinary Medicine? ❤️

Our pets can't tell us when something feels wrong with their heart. That's why cardiac ultrasounds (echocardiograms) are such a valuable tool in veterinary medicine!

A cardiac ultrasound allows veterinarians to:
🐾 Evaluate heart structure and function
🐾 Detect heart disease early
🐾 Monitor progression of existing heart conditions
🐾 Guide treatment decisions for better outcomes
🐾 Provide a non-invasive, painless assessment

Early detection can make a significant difference in your pet's quality of life and long-term health.

Have you ever had a pet diagnosed with a heart condition? Share your experience below and help raise awareness for heart health in our furry family members! ❤️🐶🐱

🐱 Ear Polyps in Cats: More Than Just an Ear Infection 🐱

If your cat is constantly shaking their head, scratching their ears, has ear discharge, or seems off balance, an ear polyp(s) could be the cause.

Ear polyps are benign growths that can develop deep inside a cat's ear and may lead to chronic infections, discomfort, hearing problems, and even balance issues if left untreated.

Signs to watch for:
🔹 Head shaking or ear scratching
🔹 Persistent ear infections
🔹 Foul odor or discharge from the ear
🔹 Head tilt or balance problems
🔹 Noisy breathing in some cases

The good news? With proper veterinary care and treatment, most cats recover very well.
The kitty pictured did very well for the procedure and went home same day. ❤️🐱

🦠Preventing & Treating Rods and Cocci 🦠

Bacteria come in many shapes, but two common groups we see are cocci (round bacteria) and rods (elongated bacteria). Prevention and treatment depend on the specific bacteria involved, but here are some basics👇

✅ Prevention Tips
• Keep kennels, cages, and exam areas clean & disinfected
• Practice good hand hygiene 🧼
• Stay current on vaccines when applicable💉
• Proper wound care and early treatment of injuries 🩹
• Reduce stress and maintain good nutrition for strong immune systems
• Use antibiotics responsibly to help prevent resistance

💊 Treatment
• Veterinary exam and diagnostics are key 🔬
• Cytology/culture helps identify the bacteria involved🧫
• Antibiotics may be prescribed based on sensitivity testing
• Topical treatments, medicated shampoos, or ear medications may help for skin/ear infections
• Supportive care like fluids, probiotics, and nutrition may also be needed

⚠️ Not all bacteria respond to the same medications — always follow your veterinarian’s treatment plan and finish prescribed medicine. 🐾
