I think every rescue has "one"...that little chaos causing terror that will NEVER leave.. anyone that has ever been to the rescue has more than likely met ours...and can never truly forget this hell on four hooves!!! If you know the answer comment below 🤣 and FYI this is NOT HIS pasture either but he sure decided to "kick the dust up!" When he made a gap in the fence just big enough to squeeze thru to go visiting 😜 and let's just say that's not a "narrow" feat 🤣

(And yes even after several bouts of decent rain that's how dry we still are unfortunately)

Wild horses graze for 18 hours a day. Yours finishes their hay in a few hours- but you throw them hay twice a day so they only are missing hay for say 75% of their day 🐴

That gap matters more than most people realise. A horse's stomach produces acid around the clock, whether there's food in it or not. Long empty stretches between feeds can lead to ulcers, stress behaviours like cribbing and weaving...and many other health or behavioral issues.

Slow feeding closes that gap. It mimics natural grazing: small mouthfuls stretched over hours, keeping the gut buffered and the mind calm. It's not a trend. It's just how horses are built to eat. Free choice hay if an option should always be given. If it is not... pick up a slow feed net so a horse has hay a majority of their day when pasture is unavailable!! Keep your horse healthy!!!!
