Where puppies come to grow and play, and humans learn to laugh. Then when the time is just right, and not a moment before, the puppies must leave. For they have a job to do of very much importance you see. A job that only a true Lhasa could complete! The job is LOVE.

From the quiet heart of a Tibetan Lhasa Apso ā€¦

The sun walks its shortest path today,
and I noticeā€”because I notice everything.
The shadows stretch like old prayers across the floor, and the cold settles in as gently as a mantra.

Winter Solstice means stillness.
It means guarding warmth instead of gates, listening instead of watching,
trusting that the light knows how to return on its own.

I curl my tail tighter.
I nap a little longer.
I remember mountains where nights were long and patience was wisdom.

Today is not about doing moreā€”
it is about holding fast,
keeping watch with a quiet heart,
and believing, deeply, that the sun
is already on its way back.
