🌍 Today is World Rabies Day, a day to raise awareness about one of the most serious diseases pets face, and one of the most preventable.

A few facts every pet owner should know:
🦝 In Georgia, raccoons are the main carrier, followed by bats, foxes, and skunks
⏳ An animal can carry the virus for weeks or months without looking sick
⚠ There is no treatment once symptoms begin
👨 ‍ Rabies can pass from animals to people, so a vaccinated pet helps protect your whole household

The good news? Prevention is simple. Georgia law requires the rabies vaccine for every dog and cat, including indoor cats, and keeping your pet current takes just one quick visit with your primary veterinarian. 💉
