It’s National Veterinary Technician Week! The theme this year is Endless Compassion, Expert Care; Celebrating the Soul of Veterinary Medicine. We are proud to have Chrissy as our Licensed Veterinary Technician! ✨

🩺 What is a Veterinary Technician?
In Georgia, an individual must be licensed by the state veterinary medical board to hold the title of Veterinary Technician. Credentialed technicians in GA are called Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs).

🩺 What does this mean?
An LVT in GA is a graduate of a 2 or 4 year veterinary technology program that is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). After graduation, they have to pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) before applying for licensure by the state. In order to keep up with licensure and the latest medical advancements, LVTs are required to attend continuing education courses. Veterinary Technicians are the first line of medical support for Veterinarians!
