Every leaf on this hybrid tells a story.

From the velvety dark backdrop inherited from Anthurium dressleri to the brilliant, glittering venation passed down from Silver Blush, the Anthurium Silver Blush x (BVEP x Port x Dress) is a masterclass in modern tropical breeding.

Up close, the crystalline veins almost shimmer under ambient light, framing a deep green lamina that hardens off into a heavy, dramatic textured finish. It’s an absolute masterpiece for collectors who appreciate complex, nuanced velvet foliage.

Shadows and structure collide in the hybrid Anthurium Papa Midnight x Papa Legba.

No, it's not fake! Every inch of this leaf reads like an obsidian artifact etched by hand. The surface opens in a deep, brooding velvet, so intensely dark it drinks the light around it, shifting from midnight violet to molten emerald depending on how the sun hits the canopy.

Tracing down from the sinus, brilliant ivory veins cut across the cordate leaf like jagged lightning against a stormy sky. Silver primary ribs branch out into intricate, glowing webs, creating a striking contrast against the dark foliage.

Delicate, raised reticulation weaves across the lamina, giving each leaf a tactile, sculpted presence that feels almost ancient. The sinus closes softly at the top, perfectly framing the dramatic downward sweep of the blade, while subtle rippling along the margins catches every passing beam of light.

This is pure botanical architecture at its finest.

Myth Busting Mondays: Save your aspirin for headaches instead of your houseplants! 🪴💊

The Myth
You might have heard the viral tip about burying an aspirin tablet in your soil to "boost plant immunity." The theory stems from acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) being similar to salicylic acid, a compound plants naturally produce to defend against stress. However, dumping consumer-grade aspirin into your pots does not actually translate to stronger, healthier houseplants.

What Science Says
There is currently no scientific evidence showing that burying aspirin tablets improves indoor plant health or immunity. In reality, introducing uncalibrated doses of synthetic compounds can alter soil pH, disrupt beneficial microbes, or even stress your plant's roots. Your indoor jungle relies on proper light, balanced watering, and standard botanical fertilizers, not over-the-counter medicine.

Save the aspirin for your own aches and let your soil do its natural thing.

A crown jewel of the plant world.

The Anthurium Wonderboy x Michelle is pure botanical art, featuring velvety dark leaves, deeply carved sinuses, and vibrant, electric-red emerging foliage that hardens into a commanding, metallic dark green. Every single new leaf puts on a dramatic show that makes it impossible to look away.

Here is everything you need to know to keep this beauty thriving at home:

Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Protect those delicate, velvety leaves from harsh direct sun, which can scorch the rich foliage.

Watering:
Water when the top 1 to 2 inches of the medium feels dry to the touch. Keep it consistently moist, but never let it sit in stagnant water.

Substrate:
Needs a chunky, well-draining aroid mix (a blend of orchid bark, perlite, charcoal, and coco coir works wonders) to keep oxygen flowing to the roots.

Humidity & Temp:
Aim for high humidity (60%+ is ideal) and warm temperatures between 65°F and 85°F to achieve those massive, flawless leaves.

Feeding:
Feed with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer during the active growing season (spring and summer) every 2 to 4 weeks.

Head over to BigShouldersNursery.com to secure your very own Anthurium Wonderboy x Michelle before it sells out!

If rare genetics and thick, velvety leaves make your heart skip a beat, this hybrid belongs at the very top of your wishlist.

Meet the Anthurium Wonder Boy A x FTG Cry x Dorayaki, a powerhouse cross that brings together the absolute best of world-class Anthurium genetics into one compact, breathtaking package.

Growth Pattern
Expect deep, velvety, dark leaves with stunning silver veins that pop as the foliage hardens off. Thanks to its Dorayaki parentage, this hybrid inherits rounded, shield-like leaves with thick, leathery texture, while the Wonder Boy x FTG Cry genetics bring deep, moody undertones and tight, compact petioles. It grows into a dense, tidy specimen rather than getting leggy.

Care Needs & Pro Tips

Light:
Bright, indirect light. Keep it out of direct sun to preserve those dark velvet tones and prevent leaf scorch.

Substrate:
Needs an ultra-chunky, airy tropical mix (think orchid bark, perlite, charcoal, and sphagnum moss) to ensure rapid drainage.

Humidity & Water:
Thrives in 60%+ humidity. Water only when the top inch of the medium feels dry to the touch, never let it sit in standing water.

Limited Batch Available! Hybrids with genetics this refined don't stay in stock long. Shop our the store and secure yours before this batch sells out!
