We’ve all been there! Here’s what to do when it’s mealtime but you forgot to thaw frozen raw food:

❄️ If you have time, leave it out at room temperature! It’s recommended to feed the food within 3 hours of taking it out of the freezer.

❄️ If you’re in a hurry, add some hot (never boiling) water to the food to speed up thawing or place the food in a bag and submerge it in hot water.

They evolved in dry, desert environments, which means they don’t have a strong thirst drive. In the wild, they get most of their moisture from the prey they eat. So when you feed dry food, which has only about 10% moisture, your cat is constantly playing catch-up with hydration. 💧

That low moisture content can lead to chronic dehydration, a major contributor to cat kidney disease, urinary tract issues, and painful bladder crystals. It’s no coincidence that many cats fed a dry diet eventually end up with kidney problems.
