Hey y’all I haven’t really been Facebook active lately being so busy but we have made lots of progress. I started riding her I think two weeks ago and trying to teach her cues and so forth. Yesterday she really got the hang of my cues and today she let stranger walk her around and even ride her (I was giving a lesson and walking her around.) I am so proud of how far we’ve come and such a short amount of time. She has even started cantering on the lunge line. Now I started to introduce water and she loves the water hose.

So this week I’m going to be videoing our work to assess mistakes I make throughout training. I’m still learning so I like to see what I do wrong so I can fix it. I won’t be posting any videos just quite wet though.

She does NOT like me but I’m getting some respect built up and some laps with the lunge line. I can walk up to her without being afraid and I can pet/brush her. She’s still got some attitude but we’re getting it under control.

So I haven’t been posting much since Darlin started biting and trying to blatantly trample and kick me but today I found that a whip makes you the most powerful being in the pasture. This is the closest I’ve gotten to her in a month since I let off the gas to give her some space (and work up the courage to throw down with her.) The journey has started over but I now have more confidence and patience than before.

Well it’s going to be an uphill climb but we’re gonna get there one way or another. We have had some set backs so naturally I am coming up with a new training route. The new route is very time consuming and frankly I’m not sure it’s going to work. If it does, great. If not well I learned a valuable lesson. You gotta get creative when you don’t have a round pen.

We got some good small lunge circles in on Saturday. Need some more work before we go on to bigger circles. Tomorrow I’m gonna saddle her up for a bit and work her.

Pneumonia and time change has our routine all funky right now but hopefully we can get back on track soon. We will be working well after dark through the next couple of weeks since the sun is setting early!
