When you lock eyes with a Western Hognose.

Known for their big personalities, they are generally docile but have an infamous "bluffing" routine when stressed. They will flatten their necks like a cobra, hiss loudly, and if threatened enough, flip onto their backs, open their mouths, and play dead.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a blue, anthropomorphic hedgehog created by Sega in 1991 to serve as their mascot and rival Nintendo's Mario. He was specifically designed to run at supersonic speeds to showcase the power of the Sega Genesis console, and his spiked form was chosen because hedgehogs naturally roll into a ball to attack enemies. Designers Naoto Ohshima, Yuji Naka, and Hirokazu Yasuhara considered several animals, including an armadillo, a rabbit, and a dog, before landing on the hedgehog.

The puff adder is a thick-bodied venomous snake native to African savannas and grasslands. It gets its name from its habit of inflating its body and hissing loudly when threatened. While widely considered one of Africa's most dangerous snakes, it possesses many fascinating survival traits.

Instead of actively hunting, puff adders are masters of camouflage that employ a "sit-and-wait" ambush strategy. They are so efficient at conserving energy that they can sit perfectly still in a single spot for up to six weeks waiting for prey to wander by.
