Humane Society of Cottage Grove HSCG is a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal welfare organization located in Cottage Grove, OR. We will also help you post a lost pet. Contributions are tax-deductible.

The Humane Society of Cottage Grove (HSCG) is here to assist Cottage Grove, surrounding Lane County areas, and parts of N. Douglas County with spay/neuter, surrender/adoption, lost pets, and feral/TNR programs. Unfortunately, we cannot assist with any Unincorporated Lane County (ULC) areas and ask that you contact Greenhill Humane Society for any ULC needs. Our current Board of Directors consists of 8 members, 4 of which are elected officals of: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. This page can provide support, answer questions, connect you with resources, and give information on upcoming events that benefit stray animals in our local area. All that glitters is GOLD! We have two, new golden kittens that just arrived at our Second Chance Cat cattery. These lovely orange tabbies are about 5 months old, and have already been spayed/neutered and received their kitten vaccinations. June is a is shy girl, but ready to be your best snuggle bunny once you spend some cuddle time with her. Her buddy, Toni, is a shy little guy, but you can definitely win him over with some serious snuggles. Come visit them at our cattery and experience the irresistible golden kittens!

A huge shout out and thanks to Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene. They were able to take in 12 of the 14 kittens that were left in totes on our front door step this weekend. Additionally, one of our new volunteers is adopting two of the 14 abandoned kittens. So grateful that all the cat rescues and humane society’s work together to protect abandoned pets! Thanks also to all the community members who offered to donate food and supplies to help us with this unexpected surge of kittens.

Remember…spaying and neutering your pets prevents pet overpopulation!

This is an impassioned plea to everyone to spay or neuter your pets!

When the HSCG cat care team arrived at the Cattery today, the first thing they saw were two plastic totes in front of the office door. The two totes contained fourteen, tiny kittens (probably 4-6 weeks old). The team kicked into overdrive and took the kittens into the cattery. They bathed them and tried to pick as many fleas as possible off of them. Once the kittens were cleaned and dried, they were put into cat cages in our isolation room. Fortunately, they seemed very healthy and were eating solid food and drinking water. While we are overwhelmed and resource strained right now, we were glad they were put in a location where they had a chance. That said, it reinforces why HSCG, our fellow pet care organizations, and our local veterinarians keep urging everyone to spay and neuter their pets.

There are not enough homes for all the pets that are born every year - so thousands of them are euthanized because there are not enough homes for them to go to. The ASPCA reported that there were 597,000 pets euthanized in shelters across the U.S. last year!

We understand that veterinary costs can be a strain on a family budget, but HSCG and other local organizations offer financial assistance to help you get your pet Spayed or Neutered. Please, please, please…make sure your pets get “fixed”…and help us in our mission to eliminate pet overpopulation!

🍁Autumn is the perfect time for chai, reading a good book, and snuggling up with a furry feline! If you are looking for that “purrr”fect kitty, come visit our Humane Society cattery and adopt one of these adorable kittens! One unspayed female. One unneutered male. That’s all it takes for the cycle to begin.

Cats can reproduce quickly, and kittens can become old enough to reproduce while they’re still kittens themselves. What starts as one litter can turn into generation after generation of cats needing food, shelter, medical care, and homes.

That’s why spay and neuter matters. 💙

For owned cats, getting them fixed prevents accidental litters and provides important health and behavioral benefits. For community cats, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is one of the most effective, humane ways to stop the cycle. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and returned to their outdoor homes.

Every surgery matters. Every litter prevented matters. And every person who chooses to spay, neuter, foster, trap, transport, or support TNR is helping create a future with fewer cats struggling outdoors.

You can’t rescue your way out of overpopulation. Prevention has to be part of the solution. 🐾🧡
