WOW BOW WOW-Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant Hello Fellow Dog Lovers! I'm Linda the dog trainer. I help dog parents raise well-mannered & well-adjusted dogs. Thank you for visiting Wow Bow Wow!

I grew up with dogs and live with several now, Danny and Jill. But Jack is the one who opened my world to fostering and other pursuits to help other dogs in need. When you tell me that you feel overwhelmed and exhausted about what you are dealing with, I know what you mean. Jack was a over-reactive dog that I could not keep under threshold when other people came up to us. I realized Jack was not t

he only dog with these issues, which brought me to what I love doing now----To help the other Jacks in the world so you can have a less stressful life. We focus on helping pet parents with new puppies and adolescent dogs start their journey on the right paw. We want to help them avoid the typical mistakes so we are not called in later to help with behavior modification for pulling like a train on walks, biting and chewing, barking at anyone at the door, jumping on people, barking and lunging at other dogs and people, and many more issues. We can help with personalized training in your home, group classes or through interactive online classes. We also provide support and guidance for pet guardians with mature dogs. We personalized training in your home, group classes and online classes/membership that cover basic foundational training as well as behavior modification programs. You are an amazing pet parent to come here looking for answers, solutions & support. Let's chat about your dog and how we can help. Call/text us at 714.794.9625

Why Your Adolescent Dog Suddenly Stops Listening Outside

What looks like stubbornness can sometimes be a dog who is completely absorbed by the environment.

Their eyes are following movement. Their nose is gathering information. Their ears are tracking sounds.

A cue that is easy in the kitchen may be much harder to use in that moment.

That does not mean we ignore the behavior. It helps us decide what to change: create more distance, ask for an easier response, and reinforce the moment the dog reconnects.

Save this for the next walk that makes you wonder, 'Why won't my dog listen?'

Why does my puppy suddenly act like she's forgotten everything?

Is this you? It feels personal when your puppy ignores a 'sit' they’ve known for months.

Owners often worry they’ve done something wrong or that the dog is being stubborn.

In reality, your puppy is likely hitting a major developmental transition.

During adolescence, a dog's brain undergoes significant pruning and restructuring. Simultaneously, their interest in the environment shifts from 'sticking close to the human' to 'exploring the world.' When you ask for a cue, you are competing with every scent, sound, and movement in their vicinity.

Your dog isn't failing you; they are struggling to process these new, big-world distractions while their brain is physically changing.

Takeaway: Your dog’s inconsistent performance is a sign of development, not a lack of intelligence or intent. If you are struggling to bridge this gap, my From Rambunctious to Well-Mannered Pup group class may be a good next step. Does your puppy seem to need you in sight every minute?

Learning to be comfortable with a little distance is an everyday puppy skill. The goal is not to prove that your puppy can handle a long absence. The goal is to create small experiences they can manage successfully.

Before practicing, check the basics: potty, rest, food, comfort, and something appropriate to do. Then make the first step easy enough that you can watch for recovery—a pause, returning to a chew, or settling again.

Save this for the next time you practice. If you want personalized help with your puppy’s everyday skills, you are always welcome to message me about private training.

Why does my puppy freak out when I leave the room?

Your puppy follows you from room to room. It feels sweet—until you cannot step into the kitchen without crying starting.

Comfortable alone time is not something every puppy arrives knowing. It is an everyday life skill that can grow through small, manageable experiences.

Start when your puppy’s needs are met. Make the first step easy, and notice whether your puppy can pause, return to a chew, or settle again. Those moments tell you more than simply counting how long you were gone.

If this part of puppy life is harder than you expected, you do not have to keep piecing together advice on your own. Private training gives you personalized guidance and a practical plan for your puppy, your family, and your home.

Message me the word PUPPY and I’ll send you information about private training.

My puppy keeps biting my hands and feet. Is this normal or aggression?

Why is my puppy acting so aggressive toward my hands, feet, and yanking clothes?

When your puppy lunges and bites your feet or fingers, it feels personal—and painful.

Many owners worry this is the start of an aggressive streak. I want to reassure you: this is almost always normal puppy exploration.

Puppies use their mouths the way we use our hands. They are teething, overstimulated, or simply trying to initiate play. When they bite, they aren't 'being bad'; they are often just experiencing a massive wave of energy they don't know how to regulate yet.

Instead of reacting with frustration, try offering an appropriate chew toy the moment teeth touch skin.

If the biting persists, it is often a sign your puppy is overtired and needs a nap in their crate or a quiet space to settle. Remember, biting is a developmental stage, not a personality trait.

Take a breath—you are not raising a monster, just a very energetic baby. Need guidance on navigating these early weeks? Reach out for an in-home private puppy program: 714-794-9625

🐾 There's Still a Spot Left for You!

Does your dog...

🐕 Pull you down the street?
🐕 Jump on guests?
🐕 Ignore you when something more exciting is happening?
🐕 Bark or get overly excited around people or other dogs?

You're not alone—and no, your dog isn't trying to give you a hard time.

They simply need the skills to navigate our human world.

That's exactly what we work on in my From Rambunctious to Well-Mannered Pup group class.

Over six weeks, you'll learn how to help your dog:

✔️ Walk politely on a loose leash
✔️ Stay focused around distractions
✔️ Greet people politely without jumping
✔️ Come when called
✔️ Settle and relax when life gets busy
✔️ Build confidence and better emotional regulation

But just as importantly, I'll help you understand why your dog behaves the way they do, so you can make better training decisions long after class is over.

Because my goal isn't just to teach dogs what to do. It's to help owners raise dogs who can handle the real world.

If you've been thinking about joining us, this is your sign.

Five dogs. One patch of grass. One very important lesson.

If you had walked by tonight, you might have thought
"Nothing much is happening."

And that's exactly what made it such a success.

A few of these dogs are sensitive.
A couple are still learning how to feel comfortable around other dogs.

None of them needed to play together.
None of them needed to greet each other.
None of them needed to prove anything.

They simply got to exist in the same space and discover that they were safe.

That's how confidence grows.
Not by forcing interactions.
Not by flooding dogs with more than they can handle.

But by giving them enough distance, enough time, and enough positive experiences for their nervous systems to settle.

Look closely at this picture.
You'll see soft bodies.
Dogs choosing to relax.
A dog settling on a blanket.

Another calmly observing the world.
Those moments may not look exciting.

But they're exactly the moments that change a dog's emotional response over time.

Because my goal isn't just to teach dogs what to do.
It's to help them feel differently about the world around them.

That's how we raise dogs who can handle the real world.

🐾 Our next From Rambunctious to Well-Mannered Pup Group Class begins Wednesday, July 29th.

If you're raising a puppy, adolescent dog, or a dog who just needs a little more confidence navigating everyday life, we'd love to help.
