Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to rescue senior dogs aged 7 and older. We do not have a shelter.

We are a volunteer-driven, donor-funded organization. All dogs are fostered.

Meet Aksel, an 11-year-old, 65-pound German Shepherd with a heart of gold and some serious distinguished gentleman energy. ✨

Here’s his résumé:
🐾 Housetrained and rarely barks. A respectful king.
🐾 Great with kids, dogs, cats, and even chickens!
🐾 Walks beautifully on a leash.
🐾 Knows commands AND hand signals.
🐾 Loves short walks, stuffed animals, and quality couch time.

Aksel has spent nearly his entire life with his family, but they’re moving overseas, and the long flight would be too difficult for him.

Now this sweet senior needs someone to give him the soft landing he deserves. ❤️

He has a little arthritis, so he’d appreciate some cozy rugs, a quieter home, and a couple of short walks each day. In return? Unconditional love, excellent company, and a forever loyal sidekick.

At 11 years old, Aksel isn’t asking for much. He just wants someone to grow old beside. 🥹

Barry has spent much of his life outdoors, and we’re ready for his next chapter to look a little different. Think cozy beds, family adventures, belly rubs, and being someone’s favorite oversized shadow. 🥹

He’s looking for a family who appreciates a big, goofy guy and is happy to help him brush up on his house manners and leash skills.

🐾 MOE & JOE: A PACKAGE DEAL YOU WON’T REGRET! ❤️

12 years of friendship, and these two little Shih Tzus have absolutely no plans to break up the band.

Meet Moe (10 lbs) and Joe (18 lbs), lifelong besties looking for a forever home together!

🐶 MOE: The sweet, gentle one. Professional snuggler, certified couch potato, and everyone’s instant friend. He’s got a heart murmur managed with daily medication, but he’s still enjoying the good life!

🐶 JOE: The playful one. Loves his toys, gets VERY excited for walks, and might play a little hard to get when you first meet. But once you’re in? You’ve got a loyal little shadow for life.

Meet Ivory, a 10-year-old, 36-pound adventure girl who still has places to go and tug-of-war games to win. 🥇

She’s:
🐾 Playful, affectionate + adventurous
🥾 Always down for a good walk
🪢 A tug-of-war enthusiast
🚗 A solid road trip passenger
🏡 Housetrained + good home alone during the workday
🧠 Knows “sit” + “shake”
🍗 Extremely food motivated, aka highly negotiable

Ivory has lived with young kids and is generally friendly with other dogs, though bigger, pushier dogs make her nervous. Cats? Respectfully, no. She has opinions about chasing them. 😅

She can be a little cautious when meeting new people, especially men, but give her time to settle in and her sweet, affectionate side comes right out. 💛

Her dream setup? A fenced yard, plenty of walks and adventures, and people who want a dog who is still very much in her active era.

✨ HAPPY TAILS: KIT + BILL 🐾💙

Remember Kit, our 8-year-old Aussie girl who was looking for a new adventure bestie? Well… she found him. 🥹

Kit has officially been adopted by her new dad, Bill! 🎉

After having to say goodbye to the dad who loved her deeply as he transitioned into assisted living, Kit was ready for her next chapter. And we are SO happy to share that this sweet, smart, outdoorsy girl landed exactly where she belongs. ❤️

Kit now has Bill by her side for walks, fetch, adventures, belly rubs and all the good stuff that comes with being someone’s girl again. 🥾🎾🐶

We love a senior dog happy ending, and this one feels extra special.

🍂 Heading to the 53rd Annual Corvallis Fall Festival? Make sure to grab a delicious crepe from Central Oregon delicious crepes 🏔️❤️ 😋 They’re generously donating 5% of proceeds to SDRO to support senior dogs in need. ❤️

Come hang out, eat a crepe, and support some senior pups. Sounds like a pretty solid weekend to us. 🐾🍁

💕Juno’s love language? Being approximately 3 inches away from you at all times 💕

Meet Juno, a 7-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua looking for her forever person. 🥹💕 And if your ideal evening involves a cozy bed, a quiet house, and a tiny dog glued to your side, Juno would like a word.

Juno has had a few unexpected plot twists in life. Through no fault of her own, she’s now searching for the home where she gets to stay for good. And honestly? She deserves it.
