On our farms we have lots of cool wildlife, but the birds are the best. Each year there is more and more. We're always gazing at red tail hawks and turkey vultures flying directly overhead. I had two great horned owls perched 100' above me for an hour in the trees while I built a family fire pit. We have a blue heron that visits every fall/winter along with lots of migratory birds stopping to take a rest. Families of quail who love darting along the backside of the fields and so much more. It's a really great feeling to know we are providing a place they enjoy.
But yesterday was special. Our good friend who builds our bat, bird and owl boxes climbed up his 10' orchard ladder and checked the owl box to see if we had any occupants...and we did. Inside was this beautiful barn owl. What was even more exciting was to see it had been hunting and keeping our fields free of gophers and mice. You can see the freshly caught gopher in the corner. Working with nature is amazing!

Finished our tunnels today and will be planting heirlooms and cherry tomatoes after this cold snap comes through. Super ...

We're still picking amazing heirloom tomatoes from our Scurrich property in Corralitos. Dropping 175 tomorrow morning at Deluxe Foods in Aptos if you're looking for local heirloom tomatoes in December. Can you believe it, heirlooms in December!!!

Our self-serve farm stand is now open 7 days a week. Pull up, grab what you want and tally your total. We have a box for depositing $.

Currently it's stocked with Dry Farm Tomatoes, Gold and Green Zucchini, Yellow and Green Beans and our delicious Strawberries.
