Some dog behaviors can feel a little spooky this
time of year.

Door charging. Toy guarding. Selective hearing
around distractions. Pulling on leash. Howling at
everything outside.

But instead of writing them off as your dog’s
personality, it may be worth asking: What skill is
missing here?

Identifying the gap gives you something you can
actually work on.

No tricks. Just training from Dog Training Elite
Coastal Bend.

If one person allows jumping, another
corrects it, and everyone uses different
commands, your dog has to figure out
which rules apply to which person.

Training works better when the household
is on the same page.

At Dog Training Elite Coastal Bend, we help
families build clear, consistent
communication that everyone can use.

Sometimes a calm presence can make a meaningful difference.

Therapy Dogs can provide comfort and connection in a variety of settings, from spending time with seniors to visiting
schools, hospitals, and community organizations.

Their job isn’t to perform a medical task. It’s to be a trained, dependable presence for the people they meet.

I want to take a moment to appreciate Jessica Kainth for everything she does to keep our business running.

People often see me working with the dogs, teaching lessons, and celebrating the progress. What they don’t always see is how much Jessica handles behind the scenes—the planning, the problems, the decisions, and all the details that keep us moving.

These past three years have asked a lot of both of us. Building a business together brings stress and uncertainty that don’t simply disappear when the workday ends. Through it all, Jessica has put so much time, energy, and heart into what we’ve built.

Jess, I see how hard you work, and I know I don’t say thank you enough. I appreciate everything you carry, everything you figure out, and how much you care about our family, our clients, and this business.

I’m grateful to be your husband and your partner in this. I love you. ❤️

This is what real-world progress
looks like.

For River, that meant walking
without pulling, listening to
commands, and better behavior
around everyday situations like
the front door. For his family, it
meant seeing a completely
different side of their dog.

Way to go, River! We’re grateful
your family chose Dog Training
Elite Coastal Bend.

Repeating the same command over and
over doesn’t automatically make it stronger.

Effective practice has structure. Your dog
needs a clear expectation, good timing, and
consistent follow-through so they can
understand what you’re asking and repeat
the right behavior.

Practice with intention, not just repetition.

A Therapy Dog needs more than a love for
people.

Hospitals, schools, senior communities, and
other public settings can come with unfamiliar
people, sounds, smells, equipment, and
distractions. Therapy Dogs need the
temperament and training to remain calm
and dependable through it all.

That’s what helps turn a friendly dog into a
dog prepared to bring comfort to others.

Pumpkin season is here, and your dog can
get in on it too.

Plain pumpkin can be offered in
moderation, but skip pumpkin pie filling
and anything with added sugar or spices.

And if your dog loves it? A small amount
might be just the motivation you need
during your next training session.

Dog training advice gets passed around a lot, but that doesn’t mean all of it is worth following.

Waiting for a behavior to disappear, relying on outdated “alpha” ideas, or assuming an older dog can’t learn can keep
you from addressing what’s actually happening.

Good training starts with understanding your dog, communicating clearly, and consistently practicing the behavior
you want to see.

Which of these myths have you heard before?

10/11/2026

If your dog seems more anxious lately, look
at what’s changed around them.

Shorter days, more time indoors, and shifts
in your family’s routine can all change what
your dog experiences day to day.

Pay attention to when the behavior
happens, what comes before it, and what
has changed. Those patterns can help you
understand what your dog needs to work
on.
