đ¨ Evaâs emergency surgery was a success! đžâ¤ď¸
Eva is a tiny 2-month-old puppy who weighed just 3 pounds when she was at animal control. She couldnât eat, and her esophagus was severely affected by a congenital condition called persistent right aortic arch (PRAA).
Dr. Carter took her in immediately. We tried feeding her tiny bites of mush while keeping her upright in a pouch we made for her, but she couldnât keep the food down. We rushed her to Dr. Mark in Victoria, who stabilized her and performed emergency surgery to correct the PRAA.
The surgery was a success. We are so grateful to Dr. Mark, Dr. Carter, our STAR staff, and Dr. Markâs staff. It took an incredible team effort to give this tiny, sweet girl a chance to live. The actual surgical video is below. Be warned, itâs a surgery that may be graphic. It is amazing though and tastefully done to show the correction. I will post photos of Eva in comments.
Evaâs future once looked uncertain. Now, she has the chance to grow up and live the wonderful life she deserves. The attached surgery video is truly amazing to see. It was Dr. Markâs first time performing this procedure, and he did an incredible job.
Weâre raising $4,500 to help cover Evaâs surgery. No amount is too small, and weâre deeply grateful for every donation and share.
