Thank you for sharing your story! You have captured what breeding is all about. The beautiful and the heartbreaking.
Today we sadly lost a sweet newborn from our newest litter that was born Sunday evening and I wanted to speak out about the part of breeding that people don’t see. ❤️🐾
When people hear that you breed cats, they often picture fluffy kittens, adorable pictures, happy families, and the excitement of bringing new life into the world.
And yes… there is so much joy in it.
But there is another side that rarely gets seen.
They don’t see the sleepless nights. The checking on babies every couple of hours. The bottles, syringes, medications, vet visits, alarms, and worry. They don’t see the moments when you sit beside a tiny kitten and hold your breath, hoping they keep fighting.
They don't see the way you pour your whole heart into one little life and hope love will be enough.
Sometimes... it isn't.
They don’t see the emotional weight that comes with loving something so completely when you know there are things you simply cannot control.
They don’t see you caring for newborns while still taking care of your other cats, your home, your family, and everything else life requires. They don’t see how exhausted you can be while still giving every bit of yourself to those little lives depending on you.
And sometimes, despite everything you do… you lose one.
That pain is something you never really know how to explain.
You question yourself. You replay everything. You wonder if there was something else you could have done. Your heart breaks because you wanted so badly for love, care, and determination to be enough.
But then there are the other moments.
The kitten who pulls through.
The family who sends you an update years later.
The child who grows up loving the cat you raised.
The pictures of happy cats sleeping in their new homes.
The messages telling you how much that kitten has changed someone’s life.
Those are the moments that remind you why you started.
Breeding isn’t just about kittens, pedigrees, or finding them wonderful homes. It’s about responsibility, sacrifice, heartbreak, hope, and an incredible amount of love.
Every kitten that leaves my home takes a tiny piece of my heart with them.
And the ones we lose along the way… they leave an even bigger piece behind. 💔🐾
I may cry. I may get exhausted. I may have moments where I wonder if my heart can handle doing this again.
But then I look at the little faces, the families they’ve become part of, and the lives they’ve touched…
And I remember why Ragdoll Paradise exists. ❤️
Because behind every kitten is a breeder who cared, worried, prayed, lost sleep, celebrated, cried, and loved them long before they ever found their forever family. 🐾❤️
This is the side of breeding you don’t always see—but it’s one of the biggest parts of what it means to truly care.
