New puppy or a dog that needs some manners??
A new session of DOG OBEDIENCE Classes will be starting on Monday, March 30 at Hand-in-Paw Training & Boarding Kennel in Cornwall. Basic obedience will cover focus and attention , sit, down, stay, loose lead walking, coming when called as well as house manners.
Come and have fun while teaching your dog to be a valued and welcome member of your family.
All classes meet once a week for 6 weeks. Cost is $145.00 for the 6 week session.
Private lessons are also available for those that can’t attend a class. Over 30 years teaching classes and helping good dogs become a wonderful partner that is a joy to live with!

New session of Dog Obedience and Agility classes will be starting soon at Hand-in-Paw Training & Boarding Kennel in Cornwall.
Obedience class will be on Friday, September 19 from 6:30 to 7:30. Basic Obedience will be taught with concentration on focus and attention. We will cover, sit, down, come, stay, walk on loose leash, etc. as well as other ideas for a well-behaved dog!
Agility will be on Tuesday, September 9 from 6:30 to 7:30. Come and have fun with your dog while teaching them to jump, go through a tunnel, up and over the A-frame and dog walk and weave through the poles. Builds confidence in your partner as well as teaching them to listen for the next cue!

I LIKE TO LICK YOU!
Dogs just love to lick - themselves, other animals and people. Have you ever wondered why, though?

Whether you love it and it makes you smile or you hate it and it makes you run for the soap and sanitiser, licking people is a very normal, natural behaviour for dogs.

Historically, dog licks were considered to be medically beneficial to humans. Dogs were used in Ancient Egypt to heal injuries and cure diseases.
Fisherman in Fiji allowed dogs to lick their wounds, believing this practice would speed up healing.

The French have a saying: “langue de chien, langue de médecin” which translates to “a dog’s tongue, a doctor’s tongue.”

Gentle licking of some types of wounds may help to remove dirt or debris that slows down healing as the tongue catches foreign matter, which then sticks to the saliva and is removed.

Although dog saliva has some antimicrobial properties, allowing dogs to lick either their own wounds or ours can lead to serious infection from the bacteria found in their mouths.

Whether or not to allow your dog to lick you (when you don’t have wounds!) is a completely personal choice. I personally don’t mind occasional licking as long as it’s not my face and it doesn’t become excessive.

Cost for the series is $145.00. All basics will be taught - sit, down, stay, come when called, loose lead walking, etc. Basic house manners will also be covered.
