How likely is your pet to return home to you if they ran away? Assuming they know their way back home is not enough.

If you don't have a collar on your pet, please consider getting one.

If you do, take a moment to check their tags and make sure all of your contact information is up to date, and that it is readable.

It is also highly recommended to get them microchipped. This ensures that if they end up at the shelter, you will be contacted and reunited.

If you'd like to schedule an appointment to get your furry friend microchipped, give us a call at 607-962-5905

It's National Hug Your Dog Day!
Did you know that hugging a dog triggers the release of oxytocin in both the human and the dog, which can lower stress levels and increase feelings of happiness and trust.

Spay and Neuter
These are two of the most commonly preformed surgeries in veterinary medicine. Have you ever wondered why?

There are many reasons to spay and neuter your pets, beyond the obvious reasoning of removing the ability to reproduce. Spaying and neutering them at an appropriate age can help them live a longer, healthier life.

For Females:
- It significantly reduces the instances of breast tumors.
- Uterine infections are common in older animals which requires expensive emergency surgery and is often fatal if not treated.
- Reduces behavioral annoyances caused by going into heat.

For Males:
- It prevents testicular cancer and reduces the risk of prostate issues.
- Males will do whatever it takes to find a mate, this reduces their risk of roaming away from home and getting injured in the process.
- He'll be better behaved. Neutered dogs are less likely to try and mount other animals and objects, mark their territory, and if neutered at an early age can help avoid possible aggression issues.

Spaying and neutering is highly cost effective. It is much cheaper than caring for a litter, or paying for an emergency surgery later on.

If you'd like to have a conversation about what these procedures entail and how to schedule, please call us at 607-962-5905 and one of our knowledgeable staff members will be happy to assist you.

By spaying or neutering your pet, you’ll help control the pet homelessness crisis, which results in millions of healthy dogs and cats being euthanized in the United States each year simply because there aren’t enough homes to go around. On March 13th, 1942 the "War Dog Program" or "K9 Corps" was created, allowing specially trained dogs to officially be a part of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Today we'd like to take a moment to recognize the bravery and dedication these dogs give to their service.
